Why do people feel they need to slate people that are successful?? Everyone thought Tiesto was the bollocks till he got big, then suddenly people want to feel big and slate them.

PVD's stuff does sounds similar cos that is his style! End of! All Dj's have their own style and sound, and i personally love it.

several reasons why pvd slating is happening now rather than a year ago for example:

1) People are seeing the light.... is used to like pvd , then i saw some of his sets, now I cna't say i'm his biggest fan i think his music is dull and monotonous, good for listening to at home I admit, but in a club, urgh.

2) This has a knock on a effect for those who've never realyl liked him, why? Simply cos before any anti pvd post was swamped by about a million diehard fan posts without any support from anyone else. Now more and more people are willing to stick their neck out and say 'actually no, pvd's not all that great,'

3) the realisation that Tiesto is bollocks has been going on over a long period of time, since the beginning for last year really (and he is bollocks, his mixing is absolutely atrocious 75% of the time.) Your right Tiesto used to be invincible with his fan base, but now his popularity is beginning to crumble people are re-evaluatiing the other top djs and these anti pvd posts come as a direct result of that.. re-evaluation. I think more and more people are seeing that the future of trance is not with the current set of big DJs but more with the slightly less known but equally as good (or someitmes much much better) perhaps not new djs, but at least djs that haven't really been at the forfront of the industry.

Next will probably be Armin. The critics always jump on the best.

Seriously, these PvD threads are really pathetic.

1. Thats just THEIR opinion tho, now i know everyone is entitled to theirs but do you see me starting threads about how shite i think Picotto is???

2. I didn't know i had any fans? Anyway, ever heard of "jumping on a bandwagon"

3. Thats not the point, the point is the constant bitching about them on here... i mean FFS its getting daft, like some gimp wants to look all big and clever and so slates someone thats actually made something out of their life! I mean i've got a strong opinion about a lot of things, but get that pathetic!

anyway Toby, i take it i'll see you at PVD 6 hours yeah mate?

here we go......

All artists maintain a similiar sound throughout their productions and remixes, but I'm not surprised Paul van Dyk is being picked out as a prime culprit. Listen to Nothing But You, and then his remix of Ghostland Feat. Sinead O'Connor - Guide Me God. They're not even similiar, they're all but identical! Plus take away the vocals and there is little of substance underneath. This from a supposed 'God' - at least Hiver and Hammer have a fuller and more atmospheric sound.

Don't waste your time flaming me by the way - instead go and make a new post about PvD's latest track, praising him for his 60 minutes worth of work

PS. This is my opinion, don't get upset.

we should have a pvd sticky thread....would clean up a lot of shit...i think ive read of three threads this week on pvd tracks hell i even created one....

I doubt it. Various reasons. One thing's for sure if I come then it won't be for pvd, it'll be for Gatecrasher.

It does sound a little bland.. but thats his style.. he does vary you know... its just that his style is the unique style of Pvd...

You rock up to a club and hear his style.. you know ur hearing magic by PvD he D man... don't like it.. MOVE THE FUCK ALONG!

I wrote it before and I'll write it again, I did not start this thread based on any other threads. I did not read any other threads PVD bashing. I do not come to this board very often, but I know there are many here that think PVD is "God". And I total agree that many people would just not normally say aanything against PVD because he does have a very large following, and I am not saying in any way that he is a bad producer, does not have talent, is unskilled, or anything like that. I came to realization thinking about all these things the other day, after seeing him live a few more times in the past year, that so much of what he plays and produces sounds very very much the same. Also, I saw a few interviews with him where he came off in a manner that was anti-certain-music. He dissed a few types of music, and that is another thing that bother me. I seem to think he is kind of a prick in real life. I have met him few times at shows and tried speak with him, but he usually has a cold look. I am not expect him to open in full conversation with me, but how about a smile? he has a stern look throughout, and then he also seems like he doesn't care much for the fans. Tiesto seems to care much more, same goes for Armin and even I would include Oakenfold in that mix. PVD seems cold to his fans. This is another added factor to me starting to think his music sounds the same, if you really stop and think about it. Just I decided to come out and say it on this forum, make a bold move, and then i see that there are many other threads saying the same thing already. Pure coincidance.

After watching his dvd i got a huge respect for the man

He def has a unique sound, but so does everyone else

Take Armins recent productions for example.. Dust Wav - sunburn - song for the ocean

Its his recent sound which makes him unique, and if its successful just fucking deal with it

But right now he is probably the most wanted dj in north america hands down along with Tiesto so obviously he is doing something right

I wont say anything more until after i hear him sunday!!!!

Posted by obs on Apr-12-2003 13:37:

because either
1) he sold out
2) he is not that talented musically

hmm, mr sell at the unofficial pvd discog removed his little personal statement, but he pointed out that when pvd was on mfs, he was working with other artists (such as cosmic baby and johnny klimek from effective force). compare pvd's work through the years and look at when everything started sounding the same ...

by the way, i'm curious to know if anyone who followed his career back when he was an unknown, if they still really like his music.
