Stanton SK5! AHahha

Yo, Brian - why did you buy one MK2 and one M3D?

I started off of M3D's, Shure M35S, and a Pioneer DJM-300. Mixer works like a charm, no probs. Turntables are sweet like always, no pitch fluctuations. Needles were alright. Now I have M44-7's and I can play records that'd normally skip on me all the time...and even use less tracking force than the M35S.

I got the good stuff to start off with not because I was rich (actually I'm a broke college kid) but because I knew this is going to be my future. I was lucky enough to get my hands on M3D's and try DJ'ing at first off of the turntables we have at school. Word.

my first pair of decks

I just started spinning about a month ago and i learned soo much within this first month. I started off mixing with this gemini mixer 667i with a 12 second digital sampler and 2 technic 1200's mk2's black. After about 3 weeks with this mixer i traded it in and got this pioneer djm-600 which ive been loving becuz of all the features and the effects. The whole deal with the 2 used turntables (but good condition) and a barely used djm-600 all for $1,200.00. This is such an amazing deal. Now i need to make more money to buy a cd player and soem good speakers, then ill be all set.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS THAT A GOOD DEAL! you can't even get just the mixer for that man! did you have to sell your soul to the devil to get that or what?

Posted by Rememberence_ on Apr-24-2003 17:31:

you can get a DJM600 easily for udner 1200 USD !

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-24-2003 17:36:

well, they retail for $1299 but frequently go for lower. don't forget, when buying from the store you also pay tax, and he probably isn't.

it's still a killer deal.

I would have bought a second MK2 to match the one I bought in November, but when I went on to order my second turntable Sunday night, the MK2s were $50 more than the M3Ds...doesn't make too much sense to me unless you consider that the M3D is probably more in-demand, but still. They wanted $449.99 for the MK2, so I decided to get the M3D for $399.99. Basically, it was purely for money reasons.

And the M3D just arrived today This is a major step for me considering I've had to use one turntable and mp3s to mix since January when I got my DJM600. Traktor...yuck...I also had my front and rear channels from my PC separately going to the mixer. Between November, when I got the MK2 and January when I got my mixer, the turntable was just sort of sitting there since there was no mixer. Though I was still collecting vinyls and getting used to the feel of it and honing my beatmatching. So getting this second turntable is wonderful for me.

Though now I wish I had originally gotten at least a 1210MK2 when I got the MK2 in November, cause now I've got a 1200MK2 and a 1210M3D...so one's silver and one's black...haha. But an extra $50 wasn't worth getting it in the same color. Anyway...all my major equipment is taken care of, and I'm more than happy.

Hehe, no one can beat me in terms of sheer crappiness of equipment that I started on --- the Gemini First Mix package. It had 2 belt drive tables, shitty ass headphones and a crappy mixer...all for a low price of $120. After playing with it for about 30 minutes, I returned that piece of shit package and spent another $900 to get 2 1200mk2's, a Gemini 626 mixer, Sony v700's, and 2 middle of the road Stanton needles.

I've come a long way since then though . I ditched the Gemini for a PCV275 which I ditched for a DJM500 a month ago. I got rid of the Stanton needles and got Ortofon Nightclubs. I'm happy thus far...

right

the tables cost me about $550 a piece and I got hooked up on the mixer...I paid a little under a grand for it ....Since i bought it with one of the tables they dropped the mixers price

Posted by JohnSmith on Apr-25-2003 17:28:

yeah, that's a killer deal. someone on here was saying they were getting techs and a DJM600 for $1200 cash!

Posted by b|p|3m on Apr-26-2003 09:53:

No shit! Where? used at record stores? Or through friends? Or ebay?

I'd be scared to send that much money to someone I don't know for a piece of equipment.

My friend has the same setup (2x1210s, Djm 600) and he paid close to $2000 i think...
