| Originally posted by Srezic I started in a similar way: Some kid made me listen to this track "Sasha & DJ Dado - Rave Megamix" and I liked it (this was like 2 to 3 years ago). I didn't really dload much then, but one day I was looking through my mp3s, and found that song and listened to it again, and was like "i gotta find more" so i searched napster, google, etc... for Rave and Sasha, which lead me to more things, namely Trance. And when i used trance as a keyword, it brought up tranceaddict.com =) So I can gladly say that I found TA by myself, heheheh =). Amit was also one of the first I talked to. And it was a fluke. I thought I knew him, because I had met a different Amit in some class I took over the past summer, and at that time he had a picture of a MD Terrapin as his avatar, so I thought it was the same guy. Well, i was very wrong about Amit. But, because of that I got to know lots more people. ~Ryan |
and i remember i dl a gothic trance type song that freaked me out cuz of what happend
and for some reason i stopped coming to the board until this past summer.....wow cant believe i rememberd that. and i cant believe how much my music preference has changed

So i registered..(on july 4th 2002...i obviously wasn't partying that day... ) |
econ major...you?
i was searching for videos, and tranceaddict came up. i started browsing the forums a couple years ago, but didn't actually join till last year.
hmmm wow, this takes me way back. Let's see, well I first got into techno in early 2000 and I started going to Pittsburgh raves a lot because there were virtually no "techno" clubs. Back then I was a mess ... I was into DnB one month, happy hardcore (ashamed) the next, techno, hard house (via badboy bill), electro-breakz,psy-trance ... I was drunk off the underground scene. Then I believe my first introduction to "trance" was either Kimball Collins or DJ Micro, Pittsburgh was not a trance town and I had to travel to Buffalo to see them. I was hooked ever since ... did a google search for trance, and here I am today!
Then took a hiatus from tranceaddict in 2001 during two particularly drunken semesters, and resumed posting in full force in 2002! That could explain why my post count is so low considering I've been here a while.
Edit: I still dance like a stupid raver kid ... can't be helped, those are my roots. So if you see a skinny, short kid dancing like an idiot by the right bar area (facing the DJ) at Glow stop to say hi.
I think my first posting was to request a track listing of an early tiesto set ... innercity or something like that. I was a timid creature back then ... anyway that's my entire tranceaddict life history (yawn).
ah, hmmm, i think it was an mp3 id3 tag or something.. from napster heh napster owned!
good old days
Back then there was this Forum with links to rare trance music called RareMusicFinder (It's no longer living). A lot of TA members were active there and I found out about TA through them.

Holy threadsurrection, Batman.
i like this thread.
i was introduced to dance music when I went to college at UofRochester in 01.
all this kids from the city and DC listened to armin, pvd, tiesto, etc.
then summer/fall 06 I moved to NY and saw PVD in the park, GnD at Pacha, Andy Moor at Love and Armin at Crobar.
some girl at Andy Moor was asking me if I was on TA and I was like nah, and she was like whhhyyyy nottttt
so cl005k had me join. and after that i came out more, met the crew, grew some balls and posted reviews on the forum and eventually went corporate and started hanging out with Pauly D.
still love mah TAs doe

Never did leave, just have not been much into posting, even back then. Despite TA not being the same, I'm so grateful it is still around. This is specially true whenever I pass the areas where yesteryear's clubs/parties used to be: Arc, Exit, Spirit, Crobar, Roxy, Centrofly, TFST. Or whenever I listen to tracks like Flight 643, Tenshi, Tell Mw Why, Tracking Treasure Down, Flesh, Eugina (which I missed hearing at Trance Classics night
recently) or watch movies like Groove
I think we might be a hearty enough bunch to survive trouse and other cacophobous deviations as I still see people going to good parties and posting decent reviews. I still come here for information (especially reviews) on trance parties, rather than FB or other social media. And I prefer the interface and aesthetic of TA than other websites; feels more authentic. Viva TA!

| Originally posted by Freeza Took me a few minutes, but I remember now heh - Some random person just IMed me someday on AIM (Because of my profile since it says what DJ's I like, and this person liked the same ones and was bored i guess) So we were talking about AvB, Tiesto, PvD, etc, and he just asked me if I knew about TA - And I was like "whaaa" So I checked it out, but it didn't really intrest me back then for some reason. It wasn't untill I got back from WEMF in Canada of 2001 - That's when I started posting. I wanted to read review about the event, and I remembered that this website was based out of Canada, so I decided to check it out again - So I did, and joined and started posting and have been ever since |

| Originally posted by DJ_Lord dude i get nostalgic everytime i listen to trance lol! nowadays my style changed completely so i rarely play anything remotely close to trance but i do listen to it and remember the days when we'd go into roxy at 10pm and leave the next day at 9am after an 8 hour set from pvd! hahahah |
i used to come on here for the Tracklist for Oakenfold's Essential Mix World Tour. Then saw all the event listings after i turned 21 a few years ago.
I have been looking at the TA forums probably since around 2003. Originally, I found the site when I was listening to Paul van Dyk - Live from the Casino in Berlin. On the mp3 it said "TranceAddict" somewhere in the title so I remember searching for it to find more music and this site came up. Only recently with all the shit music being released did I ever feel the need to make an account and post. Guess I was just a lurker.
Ibiza's Children brought me here in 03 or 04, but only registered in 09
