But yes he does play some songs that are overplayed and cheesy but when he's on he plays some unbelievable sets. My 2 cents

ive seen him play for an hour... scott bond had to physically pull him away from the dex... as for the shakin hands n stuff... he does plenty of that.. maybe its just crasher he likes cuz he always duz it there.

he is a genuinely nice person... i think u guys who say he's a twat catch him on a bad mood or busy night (as he often plays 4 or 5 clubs a night)

i think he is a completely diff DJ when he plays crasher.. cuz all of u moan about him bein shite an whatever but he rarely dissapoints for us in sheffield

peace

Interesting, judge jules is not a twat. Well I think he is. No offence and I should visit Crasher when I go to England one of these days

Posted by DisBejS on Jun-04-2001 17:06:

He wasnt that bad

Twilo Goddess, i was at buzz(washdc) when jules was spinning and these were the tracks he dropped so lets compare to his NYC Set.. (some of the songs i recognized)

Angelic - Stay with me (las song of the night, crowd went NUTZ)
RBA - No Alternative
U2 - New Years Day (dunno what mix but it was HARD)
M.Picotto - Like this Like that
That song with the martin luther king voice. he attempted to scratch in it, sounded horrible..
Cygnus X - Superstrings (is that what its called?)
Hi gate - caned and unable
2 songs that sounded really housey, if u listened to the Homelands set, i think u'll recognize it

thats all i can remember so far.. it was a pretty good night overall, i gave him a dollor bill and he signed it, and shook his hand while he was spinning, he really can pump up the crowd but i know there is difference between a DJ being skilled and working the crowd and a DJ jus droppin anthems that everyone knows. almost everyone in da crowd was dancing and jumping up and down, although he was 30 minutes late and his set was cut short..
people gave him a standing ovation after he finished around 4, i really felt bad for this local dj that came on next cuz everyone LEFT after jules.. LOL

neway, it was a pretty good night, if you ask me if i'll go see him again, i prolly would..

twilogoddess, u should visit buzz if you ever get a chance, i think it lives upto the quality of twilo..
upcomming dj's this month
(deep dish, dave seaman, mauro picotto, donald glaude(cd release party)

newayz.. latez

i've always said JJ sucks ass... his track selection is poor, he plays the same tracks over n over... his sets arent at all organized... sets are there to take you on a trip, his sets take me nowhere...

Posted by blighty on Jun-04-2001 21:30:

Talking Hi

I don't like the this thread title,.. I think his sets are usually realy good!!

Yeah he played all those. Plus Baguette, Fire Wire, Green Martian- Industry.

Posted by patticus on Jun-04-2001 22:47:

that's simon - free at last i believe.. he's always trying to scratch that vocal... buddy if you want to learn how to scratch as a trance dj, learn from the old carl cox..
also, w/o the crasher kids support, he'd be nobody... so i dont know why he would trash them.

his productions can sometimes "get the place moving" but they're also very cheese, i haven't gone back to hear the new angelic yet tho..
hi-gate sucks. that's that. he plays garbage like sonique and modem - contact (WTF?) real obvious, like twilo says... doesnt leave much room for a set to progress. also hard on the ears.

like ive said before, qontact is him at his best ive ever heard. any other half decent sets out there, that might convince me?

hmmm i think ur wrong.. he wouldnt be nobody if he didnt have our support.. he'd be everywhere but crasher lol...

ah cheeze is his trademark u c... his best production i think is the clergy - saints & sinners... now that is class cheez on a stik with pineapple and a little sausage too!

got to the republic every month hehe honestly he is fuckin class... ill agree though he isnt the best dj there is technically... that would be timo maas all the way

peace

Posted by Twilogoddess on Jun-05-2001 03:23:

He also played Altitude- Excession. I was freaking out...cause Tiesto used to play it a lot.

Posted by havok118 on Jun-05-2001 04:57:

jules @ buzz

yeah, I saw jules @ buzz last friday too,
he wasn't bad, but he had a very housey edge to his set (I guess he'd heard the DC heads like their house), anyway, I also noticed he dropped Depeche Mode - Dream On(dave clark rmx).

I wasn't impressed, but then again, I rarely am... Deep Dish and Danny Howells this week will no doubt rock the joint...mmm...bedrock label dj

Oh yeah, he didn't actually spin Simon-Free at last, he was spinning another tune, and had the MLK speech on another vinyl, which as noted, was horribly scratched...

Posted by SeeK on Jun-05-2001 06:08:

JUDGE JULES SUX! i hated him b4 and after i heard the Contact set i thought he was ok! =P He uses the mike abit. Probably best thing he does! =P his productions are ok. They are those tracks that after u listen to em 2, 3 times u get sick of em... and u cant play em after they are a month or two old. As for something like PvD - For an Angel u can play that anywhere! Judge Jules SUX!! basically what it comes down to!

Posted by patticus on Jun-05-2001 08:20:

tuface, judge jules is saints & sinners????
um.... that'd be a news flash to moi.

anyways i cant go to republic or wherever, i live in vancouver. heh.
so recommend somethin you think is good

of course he isnt the best technical dj, he's horrible and that's a widely accepted fact

i was just disrespecting his track selection.. hehhehe

I know about 60 ppl driving down to Buzz this wkend for Howells & Deep Dish. He didn't play Dream On. The programming of his set was awful.

hehe noooooo Jules aint saints & sinners.. he is The Clergy.. the track is called Saints & Sinners

about not bein able to go to the republic (aka the church of whats going on now aka gatecrasher)... move to sheffield then if u r askin me to reccommend a live set by him for dl.. i dont bloody know i never get live sets.. his new years one was pretty good though... and if u can get his set from gatecrasher mayday celebration then i think u would like it damn i love it when crasher put on a mystery DJ i wuz well chuffed when i saw it was julesy.. he wasnt even wearing a blinding shirt which was strange.. it looked like they had just pulled him out of bed lol...

and btw.. for the ppl who know who he is... doesnt Jules look waaaaay too much like Simon Raines (the other half of the gatecrasher ownership w/Scott Bond)... i think they were twins seperated @ birth...

peace

Posted by Twilogoddess on Jun-05-2001 15:30:

Question

Scott Bond owns Gatecrasher?

Posted by tu_face on Jun-05-2001 16:05:

Yeah he has half the shares.. the other half is mostly Simon Raines with a bit owned by Simon Oakes. He bought half of it out last year when the previous owners of that half were trying to turn it into a shermanator's place full of piss-heads.. for fucks sake they wernt lettin cyber-kidz in for a month or two.. he is our saviour lol

peace

Satan (eek!) Curious

Hey Twilo ,
A question for you..your hatred for Jules stems from?
you seem like one of those hypocrites...So many people I know critisize Oakenfold for not being a part of main stream trance ...not having a good track selection or being too commercial..yet when he comes into town..the first guys to buy tickets are them...
I agree with Neo...he is a decent dj and I guess you shouldnt bash him all that much ...

The tune he spun was most probably Native - do you feel. Infact in 99% certain it was.

I don't hate JJ & I can bash him as much as I want. I criticize Oakie for playing the same outdated tunes not bad tunes. Oakie was here last Nov, he's not worth $40. He was here recently for MTV, the show was free, I still didn't go. I'm very picky. Not to brag but I see Top DJs 1 to 2x a wk & I work at record label. I'm a muzik snob not hyprocrite.

ps: how can someone "seem" like a hyprocrite on a messageboard? U seem like ur 16 yrs old.
