crystal (lee coombs remix) rocks! you should definately get that, fucking tune!
haha - this thread is so very amusing, but to be fair, anyone with a bit of a clue would have realised that Confusion was a remix, since it actually has the words pump panel after it in brackets, and i'm asuming this was heard on the Blade soundtrack - it mentions it all there too 
as for Kai Tracid 'inventing' the term acid trance - !!!

The version you probably heard first was in Blade.
Some dude remixed the original 'confusion' to a techno/acidy type beat and it freaking OWNED. It was cross genre and everyone dug it.
The original confusion was... different. Not my bag. But New Order- Crystal (original mix) is pretty good. Has a 60's/50's innocent feel to the melody.
New Order are great!

New Order is NOT rock. New Order are the godfathers of dance. 80s electronic dance scene was owned by New Wave/Synthpop groups like New Order, Duran Duran & Depeche Mode. These guys are masters of sampling. :P If you listen to any of their older works, you can hear a lot of modern dance elements in it. And a lot of current producers, like Paul van Dyk, are inspired by them.
NEW ORDER are the best...well they are my favourite...

the original is way different..
blue monday- the original 12 inch is the an essential track by them. also it happens to be the biggest selling 12 inch of all time.
new order are not rock, synth-pop new wave if one must classify them.
essential new order tracks:
temptation, blue monday, perfect kiss, true faith.
the album to get by them is 'substance'
also thry out the REST of new order for some dancier tracks.
i have all their albums and if you really start to get into them then check out joy division, and make the pilgrammage to macclesfield to visit ian curtis' grave and the manchester to see where it all began...
new order is a big inspiration for pvd. he did a remix of spooky for them in 1992. new order is good like that using dj's to rermix some of their singles.

i think Hardfloor's Acperience 1 kicked off acid-trance at the end of 1992. back in the mid-90s they were in popular demand remixing all kinds of tracks from New Order -> Depeche Mode -> Robert Armani.
is it "techno"? it depends on how you define the word. some use "techno" strictly for the hard/minimalist sound but some use it to enscope "electronica". musical genre terms change over time. think about "alternative" and "pop".
yes, acperience1 is one of the earliest acid trance attempts ever. a true classic it is.
and nuke, early acid techno trax were different from the confusion remix. they were heavily influenced by hardcore at that time. i can upload some samples from 1993-1996 period for u to hear

i just found a good site that includes excellent examples of EARLY acid techno and acid trance of the same timeframe. see for yourselves what i meant by a huge hardcore influence on acid techno in the early period:

its not acid trance!! stop saying that. everybody who heard classifed it as techno. Its acid techno. or some kind of techno anyway.
who fucking cares if it is acid-jungle-break-trance? just listen and enjoy it. and if you don't like it, you can always go jerk off to your pvd posters.
