I was gonna buy either this one or z-680. but I've decided to wait for the 6 series...

Altec Lansing AVS300 speakers (2.1). Great sound quality, and for only 30 bucks Canadian (special deal as I was buying another PC and not building for once).

Also, I've got the PC hooked up to a JVC Kaboom, which I'm listening to right now (intense bass).

I listen to trance at night using my Sony MDR-G56 streestyle headphones, which also have great, though not the best, sound quality.

s4 midiland 8200s
When I got them I couldn't decide between them or klipschs but I bought the midilands instead. They sound great. They get my tiny little room bumpin.

The Logitech Z-560's are the best bang for the buck...i don't know how much the are now but i got mine last year for approx. $130...I must say it was money well spent

Posted by tu_face on May-06-2003 12:55:

i have Wharfedale Valdus400's

i have everything in my room runnin thru my mixer.. so pesky little computer speakers are not required

Two almost-20-year-old Jensen speakers - Wooden box w00t ('course the woofers have been fixed/replaced).
Got them hooked up to el-cheapo marantz amp. Great quality though.

Umm... if I'm not mistaken, every 10dB is the sound level is about doubled, so 7dB is quite a bit, although i agree it's not necessary. If i'm not mistaken 120dB is a lethal sound level.

You've got it backwards bud... humans hear on a log scale, that's why we use dB to measure sound pressure.

10 dB is 10 times as much power, in electronics (3 dB is twice as much), but it is not twice the volume. I think 140 or 150 dB is lethal, not positive on that.

I'm telling you guys, read the specs before you buy a hyped-up speaker system. Those Logitech ones ARE good quality, but you can build a better system from custom components for a lower price.

Thanks for the correction, i didn't exactly remember the numbers right.

Let me introduce you to the Klipsch Promedia GMX D-5.1

Klipsch are by far the best speakers for your PCs, I don't have this one but I have the older promedia 4.1 model.

no, they dont have some kind of connector, making them non-pc speakers
but console speakers

edit:im going to buy z560 myself, everyone says they are good, i know someone with them and they only cost 150 and less

ehh not quite, but yes it is LOOOOUUUUUDD. around 140db is how loud a gunshot is, about the same range for a jet engine at takeoff.

you can get car subwoofers that put out 140 db easy. they have db competitons for cars and some of those guys build systems that go up to like 160-170db i think. i suppose if you stood right next to it it wouldnt feel to pleasant, and if you stick your head right in one of those trunks you might shake your brain to goo, but it aint gonna kill you right away

and theres my useless fact contribution for the day.

and oh yeah i have the Cambridge soundworks FPS 2000 Digital...old but nice my brother and my firend has the CS 510d's and those totally embarrass mine soooooooooo loud, sooo clear
