From my very small, and personal experience, the DJM600 is a good mixer in small and medium clubs, but I can't(and haven't) see/n it being used in professional studios and large clubs.

Once again, from personal experience, it seems that I can push my Vestax (or any other Vestax mixer) louder[without distortion] then the DJM600.

It also makes sense in my mind that the seeing as Allan and Heath are (as far as I'm aware) ONLY in the high quality audio industry they would be better then someone like pioneer who is known most of all for the car systems.

Well, which mixer did they use at TT2003? Which mixer is used at r00m 680? which mixer was used at ZOS and now used at ZOS? which mixer do they use at bubble? The DJM600 that's what. I know the vestax has a better cleaner output, but using a mixer ultimately comes down to the preference of dj's at the club/rave/event. I'm not trying to say that they are the 'best' all i'm saying is that most places, from my experience, go from the allan and heath to the DJM600. Why? is it ease of use? is it the fact that it works? effects? World renown, recognised and proven? If you watch most livesets of dj's round the world, guess what, they are using a DJM600. Check it out sometime, you'll see. All mixers are good for different dj's, it's what works for you ultimately.

Cheers

^^^^^ That says it all really :P

Good point about what most used/easier to use....Very True.....

I'd class Room 608 as a small/medium sided club, so yeah for that go it...TT's i'm suprised they were running a DJM600, especially after seeing Armin a week later on an Allen and Heath(Cam/Orpheous/Stama - care 2 confirm? @ the VERY least it was about 8 channels and was NOTHING like a djm600)....The other club, I've got NFI about, being a Sydney and all...

I rememebered reading a thread on here the other week and did a quick search for it, and found the following by DJ Tranz(runs www.djmart.com):-
"Most clubs preferred UREI or Rane or as used at HUGE events like Trance Sensation and Trance Energy, the ALLEN & HEATH." Which was a thread discussing mixers, and the DJM600 went DOWN bigtime.

You also have sparked my interest on this, and have looked further around for more info...will update with unbiased findings soon.

EDIT: Back after finding this:-

"Voted Best Club Installation Mixer in the DJ Magazine Techno-Scan Awards 2002"

Based on the above quote, it's acutally the below mixer:-

That's also the mixer used in GAS up here.

djway, i'm not trying to steal your thunder or anything, but, what you read and what you see out there are completely different. The only way they can sell mixers really, is if they win awards, get rave reviews and be classed as the 'best' mixers. The original poster obviously wanted a mixer to learn from 'home' with. I gave him the best and easiest mixer to learn with (from my opinion). As you said also, 'I'd class Room 608 as a small/medium sided club, so yeah for that go it', well there you have it, you even admit that the mixer (in your opinion) is suited to that venue. I wouldn't think that an Allan and Heath or top notch vestax is needed for someones bedroom really would you? BTW, if you really get to know audio engineers or sales people really well, they will give you their spin on the mixers not just try to sell them to you as being the best. Anywayz, didn't want to start an argument just wanted to share some relevant industry knowledge to someone who asked.

Ok, I thought you were contesting that Allan and Heath weren't as good in general vs a DJM600.

For the home, i'm in TOTAL agreement that the DJM600 is the mixer for home if you can spare the $'s. (Look @ my original post, I suggested the DJM600)

I know things started out just sharing advice, which I agreeded with but there was some statments (IE 90% of clubs, and world's best mixer) that I just wanted to clarify for my own personal knowledge....

There was no thunder to begin with, just questions and quote

Yeah, they're not doing too bad. Last time I was in there they'd started selling the UDG line of bags so they're going all right. They've started to get more of stuff which is promising but their trance and prog is lacking. For hip hop, dnb I'm told they're brilliant though and they've got heaps and heaps of aussie hip hop especially. Nice guys too.

Dance arena is across the mall from them so its quite handy and a good antidote at times.

haha, yer dance arena have NOTHING though, well not when i used to live there :P
