A PvD-(r)evolution
Last night was the first night ever for PvD to spin using Final Scratch rather than vinyl. There were one or two instances where I thought it didn't work properly, buit that's hard to tell. Anyway, apparently he was surprised (and pleased) that the computer didn't crash during his set. While I have a - maybe oldfashioned - preference for DJs spinning with vinyl, this is probably here to stay.
Otherwise, there was a very clear and marked distinction between the first 2 hours and the rest of the set. The first part was, well, I dunno how to describe it, very different from anything I have really heard form him. Totally different than last week's Vandit night. It kinda lacked energy IMHO. It certainly wasn't house, not prog, not hardtrance, some kind of trance I guess, but without that uplifiting part, in fact I am tempted to say it was a bit "dull". Hmmmm.
Anyway, then after 2 hours, all of a sudden the music changed completely and turned into the onslaught of energy we know from Paul. Excellent, lots of new stuff, some classics, including BBE-Seven Days and one Week, PvD-Another Way and Emmanuel Top-Turkish Bazaar
The location was just awesome, a former small church annexed to a hospital-turned-hotel. Almost Limelight feeling in Amsterdam
Great vibe, too! Apparently, the club has been up and coming recently, booking top name DJs like Dave Seaman, Sander Kleinenberg and, unbelievably, Deep Dish (I am so upset I missed that).
