AGREED ! please leave classics alone and produce and remix fresh new innovative tracks that NEED the explosure, not the obvious tunes we are familiar with and put YOUR twist to it.

Also, this Tiesto remix, as well as the Ferry Corsten remix, only uses the main melody from the original Barber as used by William Orbit and not the whole development of the the melody that takes place in Barber's original. But I don't know, guess we will find out about the proper title later.

PS-From 22:00 to 23:00 hours, the music playing was a compilation made by Tiesto of his favorite chillout tracks. I believe William Orbit's original was the last one that was played. Does this mean anything?

i could be wrong. But that part is the most important of the original. my point: Samual Barber is ´the man´.

However the original is free to use (rights), so would not be smart to release it as a remix of Orbit. But i think i think it will see no release at all.

Ralphie

Tiesto's mix is just so superior in every way I can't believe some people are complaining about it. They're just not in the same league. And Barber's Adagio had been a classic for decades before William Orbit and Fairy Corsten remixed it. The classic is NOT Ferry's mix, the classic is Samuel Barber's original, he's the CLASSICAL composer, not Ferry. What's wrong with Tiesto remixing it now? Maybe it's because you didn't get to hear it live.

Thanks for the hype boys now even non-DJ-Tiesto freaks know it

I agree with you Ralphie B . Samuel Barber IS the man. That's why i never liked Ferry Corsten's remix, since it bastardized the piece for me. However, I think this remix finally does justice to such a classic.

I agree. I think it would be better to see it as a Tiesto single, perhaps.

btw Ralph, did you get an email from me regarding Amazon infos??

all the best,

arturo

Fact is, The basic tune OWNZ. This was the First trance tune I heard, back then, I was 13(17now). And, I still find it the best tune EVER made. It makes the hair on my arms rise everytime I play it out loud.

You've got to be kidding You can't deny the quality of Ferry's remix... I thought that you as a 'classical musician' would understand the beauty of Ferry's remix. Don't get me wrong, I like Tiësto's remix too, but Ferry's remix is an absolute classic.

I don't like Corsten's mix of it at all. In fact, I much prefer the ATB remix.

I think Ferry saved some grace with his mix of "Ravel's Pavane Pour Une Infante Défunte", which is much better IMO. And I haven't heard Tiesto's mix of Barber's Adagio... looking forward to it though.

Well I never really liked it, always sounded cheesy to me. It may be a quality production, but I never enjoyed it because it's too 'happy' and doesn't really transmit the feeling of the original Barber. Ferry changed the harmony to a major key after the breakdown, to me that sounds kinda silly . I think this Tiesto remix is a much better rendition because it's darker, and that's how it's supposed to be. But hey, that's just me

the mixing into this tune was awful
and the tunes ever worse
did he leave a channel open cueing or something??
wrong

what mixing? from magik journey's intro to the main melody of Adagio? That was an intro, he didn't have to beatmatch anything there. All you can hear is the MC screaming anyways.

mixing last night was pretty tight, i have no complaints in that department

Posted by Nook on May-11-2003 21:22:

i think it's really awesome. i never knew when i was there yesterday, that it would turn into something wicked like that. better than ferry's mix, although that one is pretty cool too.

seems I've got a different rip of the track than you then, mine you can hear Magik Journey going out, beats all over the place, then mixing out you can hear him trying to cue

LOL, get the Concert rip. At least get the first 4 minutes of the set. You'll see that Tiesto had mixed out of Magik Journey more than one minute before the rip you're talking about starts. He only played the strings intro from Magik Journey, but we never got to hear the actual beats of the song. From the Magik Journey intro he fades into the main melody of Adagio. Magik Journey is never heard again after that, so I don't know what you're talking about.

yes you're right, I misheard.
still the mishap when everything kicks in after the breakdown

and the fact it's a desecration of a classic and he should be shot for even thinking about doing it

That's exactly what I thought and said when I heard Ferry's remix for the first time years ago. As I said, Tiesto's remix is a better rendition (for my taste) just because it's a more accurate reinterpretation of Barber's classic.

But you're right about the mishap after the breakdown. I'm sure this track is not finished though, it needs some fine tuning and equalizing.

Oh Myyyyyy....... THIS TUNE F*CKING ROOOOOOOOOCKS !!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Ian on May-11-2003 22:43:

@ DJ Pio

Ferrys remix isn't happy it's sad, sweet and turned a classic piece into trance, theres always going to have to be a beat & bassline that some determine as cheesey on it to do anything, and my main problem is that Tijs after bitching endlessly about not wanting to be another ferry corsten has remade a tune ferry made perfect in a trance sense

Posted by tc-fan on May-11-2003 22:43:

the minimalistix mix is great also btw..
