Err... no, the legal age is 14. Age 18 has absolutely nothing to do with this. If you're 15 and they're 12, it's illegal - if you're 20 and they're 15, it's fine.

But that's not really the issue I guess... mostly the reason that the clubs are 19+ (or 21+ there) is that they serve drinks inside. If they make it 16+ and they want to serve liquor then they have to come up with some kind of $pecial system. It's not about maturity or sex, just alcohol.

Explanation: Because Canada is influenced by the (moronic) policies of the USA, where the drinking age is 21 and *very* strictly enforced.

I think he was talking about the USA, beacuse in the US if someone is over 18 and the other person is under 18 that is rape.

werd. couldn't have been put better

Posted by mospeedracer on May-19-2003 03:32:

yes i know what bouncers are for and not all the time they do their jobs. but i respect what they do. and yes i was pretaining that about the U.S. being it rape if you are over 18 and she is underage.

Posted by nrjizer on May-19-2003 04:23:

I know, thats such a bullshit law. If your gf is a week younger than you and you fuck her on your 18th bday you can get thrown in jail for rape. But if you had done it the day before or next week, you wouldnt

It's not that extreme...

Don't give people the wrong idea. Since you can drive at 16, I wouldn't want the drinking age to be 16 here. I'm scared enough of 16 year old drivers really.

i agree with this. when i was 16 i couldn't understand the age thing, but now that i am older i do not want to share a club with a bunch of 16yo's. just wait your turn, your time will come.

Posted by smh on May-19-2003 16:16:

Great, only 1 year 7 months and 23 days to go then.

Don't think i can wait that long, ill wait 4 days till Friday thats long enough

yeah same here.

i mean at 16, you could try growing up or something. i know it sucks that you cant see your favorite djs live, but frankly, suck it up and deal with it. you have many years ahead of you.

With regards to the person who said that he could go to jail for having sex with his 17 year old gf when he turns 18, that is not necessarily the case. Depending upon which state you live in, the age of consent can vary between age 14 (Hawaii) to 18 (Oregon). There is no federal law on the age of consent. Many of these states also have a 3 year rule whereby it would not be considered statutory rape if you have sex with someone that is within 3 years of age. Thereby avoiding the situation of someone being guilty of statutory rape when they turn 18 and their gf is still 17.

But I agree that I don't want to go to a club or a bar with a bunch of immature high schoolers. That was one of the main reasons why I began to hate going to raves (besides the music sucking).

that sounds vaguely familiar... like i think in NJ if you are 16 you can have sex with anyone under 21. but if you are over 21, they have to be 18.

HAha. Yeah, that's stupid heh. It must kinda suck like in holland when you are 22, and there's a bunch of 15 year olds there. I'm not saying all are immature, but some.

Haha why do you call him the devil? I remember him coming to play in pittsburgh a few times until he got banned from the US for violating his visa. I didn't know he was still around ...

clubs should be 21+ at least... younger people tend to have a hot temper which can cause trouble mixed with alcohol...

good point

There is no longer a draft.

When there was, it was a legit argument.

Damn. I must be getting old if I just said that.

Posted by EriK_V on May-21-2003 00:21:

I'll just have to wait, or move to Toronto. Not too fond of raving...
