James Holden - A Break In The Clouds

Posted by Vlad on Jun-06-2003 06:12:

Im gonna be dead honest, I dont like progressive, but Duran - Face (B Side) turns me on in a strange way. It has this very deep, dark beat to it, I like. If this is what you might call hard-progressive, than I think I found myself some new genre to spin with my seksi trance music.

hehehe, Vlad you actually already named the genre in your description of the beats, it is what's called Deep Progressive Trance there is no hard progressive but there is what's called UpBeat Progressive, aka Trance-Progressive(Belg/Germ)* that's what PVD, Oakenfold(when he plays progressive) and Christopher Lawrence play most of the time. Here is one of the best examples of UpBeat Progressive Trance:

Tillman Uhrmacher -- On the Run(Coast2Coast, aka Ferry Corsten RMX, and PPK RMX) you'll also find sample of this track at www.only-djs.com just put On The Run in the search area, need to have Real Player to listen.
Cheers...

I think progressive is more of an acquired taste, but once it pulls you in....oh baby!!!!!

Hang on tight, grab a box of tissues 'cause you'll be crying when you realize you just bought shitload of progressive records and now have no more money, but you want to buy more and more of this wonderful music, hahahahahaha,

Dude, I live on only-djs website

EDIT:
Just looked for the version of 'On the run' you said, the music has been taken off. I dont blame them, they were released a year ago. BTW is Ocean 2 Shore Club Mix

They didn't take it off, just their stupid link doesn't work. I am too lazy to report those to them. Anyways, yes the Coast2Coast Rmx is the Club mix, and also the Club EP mix, I have two records the March 2002 Direction Recordings Release and March 2003 Radikal US Release with new rmxs by Yakooza, Minimalistx and Pole To Pole and of'course Ocean To Shore Club EP(which is Coast2Coast equal) go to

www.planetxusa.com sign up for free(this is for sole purpose of faster check outs once you actually order from them, no spamming, trust me, but it is also a must if you want to be able to playback the previews) go to DJ shoppe after you sign in , filter to Trance, leave ALL for sub genre, next to Artist, type in Tillman Uhrmacher

on the search results look for this mix:

TILLMANN UHRMACHER - On The Run (UK Edition)
[DIRECTION RECORDS, 6721356, UK \ Format: 12]
3 mix - Giving you some new flavors with Minimalistix, and PPK as they work to please the ears
PRICE: $10.00 [TRANCE-PROGRESSIVE (BELG/GERM) \ Released: 03.11.02]

Do you order from planetxusa alot? I've read they are bunk, but if you have good relations with them I might give them a try. They make you order a minimum of 40 dollars though, which is BS.

Posted by Vlad on Jun-06-2003 07:16:

Thats non-sense... I usually spend about $70 an order anyway (about every 2-3 weeks)... they would love me

I listened to the song and I dont like it... whatever that organ or guitar synth. is in the background totally fvcks it up for me. The beat is good, the melody is ehhhh. This is definitely an aquired taste and right now it tastes bitter. The best examples of the type of stuff I love is Jan Johnston - Flesh (Tiesto Mix) and Delerium - Silence (Tiesto ISOS Mix)... that stuff turns me.

Planetxusa.com is my primary shopping source. They carry the most deep progressive trance Vinyl than any other site. Site is updated everyday during the week, they are in New Jersey so for US residents there is absolutely no chance of any import taxes, and their shipping costs are dirt cheap. My latest order will be arriving tomorrow, something like 18 records with only $10.00 shipping included total price tag=USD $129.00 YOU CAN"T BEAT THAT PRICE ON ALL LATEST RELEASES. and as Vlad said(though he is going to be spending at least twice that amount now that he found out what Deep Progressive Trance is all about, hehehe ) I don't go to a website or a local record store to buy just one record, not worth my time nor the hassle, I get at least 7-9 records each visit to local records store, which I haven't done in about 6months since discovering wonderful site www.planetxusa.com, and when I shop on this website well here is my order history for last 6 month, each number represents how many records each order was

50, 28, 12, 14, 10, 24, 33, 27, 19, 24, 18 total orders in last 6 month is 11 times for a total of 259 records. And I also ordered twice from www.only-djs.com 'cause some recs were onlydjs exclusives and I was not about to pay some crazy shipping costs for only 3 records so I ended up getting 15 records from them which cut down my shipping costs to about $1.29each record from almost $4.00 if I was to only order 3 recs, and $1.29each record is not bad at all considering that is a 2business day delivery FROM ENGLAND,
planetxusa c/s is better than only-djs, thus planetxusa is my number one choice, always....

I order from chemical records and juno records, because if one site doesnt have it, the other does. So far no problems with either store, although juno is alittle slower, but I dont mind as long as I get what I ordered. But I have to take it easy right now since Im really low on cash and I still need another turntable.

Just to add my little contribution to this thread, I dont know whether it was posted or not but.. Holden & Thompson - Nothing (Hiver & Hammer Remix) is really nice.

Try the 93 Returning Rmx another prime example of upbeat progressive trance.
