logically an mp3 player is the way to go.

but seeing how i am obviously not a man of logic, i am very intrigued by minidisk players. They just seem so much cooler.

I'd go with the md player.

but dont listen to me. i'm an idiot.

good battery life

* loud strong volume. -- MD problem => often find MD's never really go loud and tease you with the volume, almost going where u need it to...

these are my main issues.. I thought 'Mp3 CD' because its cheap and the medium can record like 7 nice sets on a cd which is great. but i dont like listening to sets too many times so i would have lots of 'coasters' so perhaps MP3 ipod? but how does it rank up in the above catagories?

hmmm

anyone a PROFESSIONAL here that can answer these questions? I have the money to throw down for the BEST most satisfying system for my needs, I just want to be happy with the product!

anyone got recommendations??

Only go for iRiver! They make the best stuff! Want a decent MP3-CD player? Get the iMP-550 (has 16 min antiskip (based off 128 kbps; at the highest bitrate of MP3, antiskip will be about 7 min) for ~180 USD at www.jandr.com. If u are looking for an HDD player/recorder (!), get the iRiver iHP-120. It can play/record up to 20 GB on its HDD (however, a bug in the firmware (this should be fixed soon) only allows up to 795 MB of PCM WAV / 5 hours of MP3 recording). It has a analogue and digital (S/PDIF) optical line-in, as well as a mike-in. It has a backlit LCD diaplay on the unit and the remote. It has decent battery life (I think 12-16 h). If your goal is just shock-free, go for their iFP-500 series (iFP-599TC can hold up to 1 GB!). Go to www.iriver.com to find out more. Or go on Google and look for "iriver reviews".

iRiver does make the best because of what everyone says about it but, it's mainly about firmware upgradability that makes iRiver stand out and give consumers what they want! I always wonder why do people want an iPod when they can get an iRiver iHP-120... IO'd never buy an iPod if I wanted a HDD player/recorder...

Creative ZEN rules with an iron fist...longer lasting and more storage for the buck...and it has better sound with EAX
