Nope, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that area of the counter, or with the cups themselves. And nope - counter's not made of cement or anything odd. Just that glossy wood stuff, I forget the name. My parents are building a new kitchen in the next room, and the current kitchen is going to become a dining room. Hmm, let's hope my mom doesn't put the china cabinet in that special area.

I once picked up a glass from the dishwasher, it wasn't hot maybe abit warm. After picking it up about 10 centimeters it just exploded, and not like when a glass falls on the floor and breaks to several big pieces and some small onez - It was exploded to tiny pieces, there was not one big piece. I was really amazed. It only happened to me that once, but I think it happened to my brother on a different occasion. Haven't witnessed it though.
But dude, three in a row that's fucking freaky. I'd go plastic cups if I was you.
