glowsticks are for dancing
mask has something to do with inhaling and drugs
baby sucker thing is related to extacy and biting

imo if the goverment regulates MTV all types of crime will lower nationally in a few years under 18 crime that is
also less suicides and early teen pregnencies (SP???????)

down here in louisiana, the state palace (aka. heaven on earth)got shut down cause of the Rave Act law. when they finally open you could'nt bring glowstix, pasafiers, any kind of lights, vicks, gum , candy, ect. the law enforcment said if they saw any of this stuff that they would shut shop again. all we have now are memories of the old school.

Arrow

glow sticks are not banned by law. it was proposed in the rave act that they be considered pharaphenlia (along with water) but they removed that line realizing that their heads are up their asses. but the rave act got approved and they have been using it to shut down events, regardless of whether there are glowsticks there or not.

my favorite club in new york banned glowsticks a while ago and it had nothing to do with the law. it started cause danny teneglia is a whiny Queen and gets pretty much whatever he wants in that space on his night there (Fridays). but now you cant have them saturdays as well. it is mostly because security uses flashlights to communicate and the glowsticks interfere but also cause it interferes with the lighting scheme. and frankly, i'm glad cause GLOWSTICKS ARE FUCKING ANNOYING!

I like glowsticks, and I think for anyone to ban them is a violation of one's Freedom of Expression, and this can be easily overturned in court.

Our government spends too much damn time trying to control our lives instead of focusing on real problems. I don't think we're such a free country after all.

that is BS. if you are entering a privately run establishement you need to follow their rules. if they choose not to allow something for whatever reason you should respect it.

that doesnt necessarily mean that some of their rules are retarded (for expample, DT decided not to allow cellphones on fridays at arc), but if you dont like the rules your option is not to go there anymore.

so where can I go if glowsticks are banned nationwide?

Besides, *your* argument is BS.
For example, at Jewish Community Centers (JCC) around the country, it was customary to only let the Jews in, until blacks took this to court and the court agreed that, even though JCC is a private institution, it has no right to discriminate against anyone.

Or when that guy wearing a Peace shirt walked into a mall in NYC and they forced him to leave because he didn't satisfy the rules of that "private" institution -- that was also BS, and the court agreed.

they ARENT banned nationwide.

and i am not saying they should deny entrance to you if you dont follow their rules but they reserve the right to take your glowsticks away if you have them when they arent allowed.

If they are banned nationwide (which they aren't), someone should tell wal-mart. I just saw a pack in there yesterday.

Posted by MOSCHINO on Jul-09-2003 15:50:

Dude...chill with rights and government shit...glowsticks are stupid. Relax and enjoy the music insted of focusing on your glowstick spinning skills. Get fuckin' real.

Posted by Eugene on Jul-09-2003 15:51:

I'm calm, why do I need to chill?
i was just6 defending freedom of expression

First smoking marijuana caused you to shoot your friends, impregnate girls and run over children. Now having a pacifier means you have ecstasy.

Maybe your child has a young baby you don't know about!

its not mine i swear ...hehehe

(Now reformed. At least I was never a "whistle" person...freaks )

Posted by butterfly on Jul-09-2003 17:25:

as far as freedom of expression is concerned, i think we should be more worried that dancing is already illegal in new york city than the unlikely possibility that glowsticks could be banned.

I agree, funny though that this happens in NYC of all places, one would think that some bible-belting southerners would make such laws, yet NYC - of all places - curbs its citizens' freedoms. Already you can't smoke in a bar in NYC. What's next? Illegal raves?!

Posted by occrider on Jul-09-2003 19:51:

Woohoo to no smoking in bars. If others should have the freedom to blow noxious/poisonous fumes in my face then I should have the freedom to beat them with a baseball bat. Or open specific bars and places to smoke ... just keep it out of public domain.

don't pretend you don't know that bars and smoking go hand-in-hand, bars are all about drinking, socializing, and smoking. It's always been this way historically and always will be. If you told me there should be "non-smoking bars" for people like yourself I could agree with you, because obviously non-smoking bar attendees are in the minority. But 99% of people who go to bars either fully expect a "smoky" atmosphere or smoke themselves.

Well I agree that bars are a little extreme. However, I'm all about no smoking in public places. Would you change your opinion however if the majority of bar goers did not smoke and would want smokeless atmospheres?

Posted by butterfly on Jul-09-2003 20:02:

cali pulled off the no smoking thing sucessfully. i kinda like it in new york. i mean it is ironic that i have unquite smoking sionce the ban went into effect, but it is good. cause you dont come home reeking and it has actually craeted these little social areas where you can actually hear what ppl are saying then you go back inside. winter is going to suck though. i think i'll have to quit again.

I have yet to see a single nightclub or "adult" ( ) establishment where that would be the case.

In principle yeah, but c'mon, that ashtray atmosphere is part of the experience
And I smoke occasionally because I like how it's part of the atmosphere and also it's relaxing for me in social situations.

you would be surprised with how many people are pleased with being smoke free in new york.
