Nothing I run is dated..(OS/web server/php/vB) this version of vB is 2.3.0 and the newest is 2.3.2 that came out last week and the changes done are crap and not worth the work involved to port over all the changes I've made to the code on here...
vBulletin 3 is still in beta and doesn't impress me all that much either... and I'll only move to that if its faster & can support all the changes I've done on here already
I personally think the overall layout and color scheme is very nice on the forums.
The only thing that I think is skewed is the buttons in the forum...they just don't, to me, fit with the overall look of the site.
As a sort of "pet project" I thought I would give making some button gifs that fit the style a little more a try.
On that note...Swamper, what is the name of the font you used in the logos? I was going to try and incorporate that look into the buttons.
Overall I must say good work on the whole thing though.

Kinda like the buttons created at the flatbeat forums...http://www.flatbeat.net/phpBB2/index.php
Those fit the theme to a T.
Great Idea for a forum spice up...
As long as it remains functional
black is fine to me, why do people want to change everything. its not always positive.
Del, have you considered using multiple or PHP stylesheets? It seems like something that wouldn't require too much effort on the vB code, since it appears that this site already uses stylesheets. A few web sites I worked on had hundreds of pages and tons of code, so I embedded ASP directly into the CSS file so it required absolutely NO changes to the main code. I'm sure it could be done with PHP too.
Either one of those two things would make everyone happy and probably only take a few hours... either a PHP stylesheet that reads off cookies, or a variable stylesheet that people could even link to off-site if they didn't like the internal ones.
Could we change the link color to something easier to see?
Some points I'd like to bring up on this:
- Black is fine.
- Its not so much the colors that need change, its the layout. I'd want something that is sleek, compact, and professional, yet simple and user-friendly.
- Besides that, I prefer the buttons and logos to be re-done. They arent exclusive to TA. I mean any board could have those same buttons. We need buttons that look nice and fit the site. Same can be said for the logos.
- Its hard to change things and have everyone accept them. Its hard to make a new layout even.
- Most people dont want change. Some dont even care how the board looks.
- I doubt any layout work will be done at all for the board.
That should sum it up, no?
