Paul Oakenfold

VS.

Paul van Dyk

Posted by Raven on Jun-21-2001 17:51:

umm....

Oakie is good no doubt. He's an innovator and used to play great sets. But now he is commercially driven, plays same short set everywhere, in love with himself, just in it for the money.

Paul van Dyk is leagues better than Oakenfold. There should be no comparison. None, He's in love with the music and plays the best long inspiring sets that cause millions of people to have religious experiences to his music. Through it all he stays humble and is one of the best producers/remixers in the industry.

as Push said....PvD is GoD.....hands down.

Talking Oakie Oakie Oakie Oakie Oakie Oakie Oakie Oakie *weeeeeeeee*

In my opinion is oakenfold the best dj in the world. With his smooth mixing and his good trackselection. Just look at some essential mixes from 1999. Progressive as hell! PvD is also good, but i prefer oakenfold.

He has also played every where and remixed everything as the radio guy on JJJ mixup said it.

All time live mixes from Paul Oakenfold:
Essential Mix From Home, London (31-10-1999)
Essential Mix From Home, Space In Ibiza (25-07-1999)
Essential Mix From Homelands 1999 (with Pete Tong)

ALL THIS MIXES ROXXX!!!

allover is pvd and oakie 10 steps ahead the other dj's like marco v etc.

Actually i heard Oakenfolds recent sets and saw him a few months live...i didnt think his mixing was so smooth......compared to PVD mixing he doesnt even come close to Smoothness of PVD mixing....... but Oakenfolds style is unique when it comes to track selection ...... like i said PVD all the way

I have to go on the strength of Oakie's old stuff.

Exactly, he was good back in 98 & 99.

Posted by Suzaku on Jul-03-2001 09:55:

I like them both, but I voted PVD. Twilogoddess is right Oakie's older stuff is the best 98-99.

BTW: Bender, the picture of Oakenfold you posted is from "1015" a club in San Francisco.

Posted by Phu on Jul-18-2001 08:25:

Armin and marco v is far better than both those guys if u guys are talking about smooth mixing.

Posted by bluE_Neon on Jul-20-2001 14:47:

aahhh i dont know why i even voted here ne more, Oakie and PVD r 2 different style of dj's i should of realized dat earlier, from lookin at it out doesn't make sense 2 compete against dem, PVD has no competitor

Posted by Scottaculous on Aug-16-2001 15:01:

Idea PVD vs. Oakie: Color blind analogy.

The comparison between PVD and Oakie is like being color blind:

Red (PVD) and Green (Oakie) are both great colors when they're separate. But when you put both together, all I see is red.

Posted by Highlander on Aug-16-2001 15:41:

Shame / Disagreement

I don't know how many X's I have been asked this and I usually change my mind each time, but just saw PVD the other night and I would have to say he is on top right now. There styles are so different oakes selections are more epic and PVD is always high energy.
