Well if TWILO still existed it would definitly be #1 --because of a few reasons:it was larger than roxy(more rooms), the phazon sound system is the shit, and it brought the biggest dj's such as residents like PVD(bi-monthly) and Sasha and Digweed.
BUT...since it got closed down for some bullshit(EXIT and Soundfactory have much worse drug problems-but they are still open
) ARC or ROXY would have to be the top 2, only because they got the best sound system in the US(PHAZON). Plus isnt it wierd knowing that @ROXY you are dancing on a skating rink(if anyone didnt know that already)!!!

| Originally posted by NYGblue Nation is def. the best venue in DC... although its Friday Nights could be used more effectively... sorry Reuben, besides booking Fleming, Code needs A LOT of work... As for Glow.... Bad sound, bad lighting, bad management, bad vibe, bad line management, terrible prices on drinks, worse vibe, Johan Gielen... I mean all of these things are just TERRIBLE... c'mon ppl. get with the fucking program! The Dj isn't everything... |
Vibe is not what you make of it thats a line of BS if I ever heard one... I've been to too many clubs to even begin to buy that bullshit. And comparing NYC and DC prices is also ludicrous and shows you don't understand simple economics...
As for the free before 11 thing, that is a joke... Too many ppl. get harrassed in that line. And yes Avalon has problems and closes @ 2 but it has a better venue so it wins in that department. I dislike Roxy as well, and the only they have are special events so who really cares anyways... unless you like Hip Hop...
Arc may not have a huge space, but the setup kicks so much ass that it doesn't matter...
Oh and Panorama has plenty of money they just don't feel like spending it... They wanna give you some cheap thrill of a stupid Dj booth that is tiny as HELL... You realize that Arc's space is considered a historic landmark... I wouldn't be surprised if that building is even OLDER.
The concrete can be dealt with by putting in padding, the lighting can be dealt with by PUTTING IN LIGHTS, the Bouncers don't have to be such assholes. Management doesn't have to be so freakin' lame. And you can keep going to see Johan Gielen for all I fucking care. I love trance, but the whole experience matters, and the sketchy assholes, the bad treatment are just too much.
BTW, saying I am bias is such a stupid comment as well, OBVIOUSLY I am bias. These opinions are subjective. Yes I am kidding about shooting ppl. that vote for it, thats what I do. Frankly I don't really give a fuck, keep going to GLow, and I'll keep going to better parties... LMAO!
uh oh controversy!

i dont understand how anyone can say Insomnia is better than Roxy...that places get so packed! The only the IMO that is better is the fact that the dj booth is right in front of ur face...if ur lucky to get taht close ...
SF - SoundFactory - best vybe..

Code is the name of the venue in Birmingham, UK where Godskitchen holds it's weekly party. |

I've had some amazing experiences and I've had some terrible experiences in just about every club in DC and Baltimore. As crazy as it sounds I have never been clubbing in NYC so I have no basis for comparison.
I was like jumped by 3 dudes inside of Buzz on one occasion for Bad Boy Bill. I was almost dosed (or something) at Edge when some jackass tried slipping some shit in my drink, but out of the corner of my eye I saw him do it so I threw it directly into the trash as I walked by about 10 of his friends who were all saying "no go, no go" under their breaths to each other. A female friend of mine WAS roofied (or something) at the old Glow @ Zei Club, and by who it was we can't prove but we have a very good idea. We had to babysit her all night because she was passing out from 3 drinks... and she was normally a heavyweight. Bullshit.
You can't let a randomly occurring bad experience take the wind out of your sails.
The amazing experiences outnumber the terrible ones by at least a 500/1 ratio

I've only been to Avalon on this list and also been to Exit (which is not on the list). I go to school in Boston, and I can attest to the great sound system and lighting effects in Avalon (I would love if they put in a mist machine), although the accoustics at times are a bit off. However, the way they handle the lines there is terrible, the security is laughable (there isn't even a metal detector there!) and they certainly know how to gouge on ticket prices. I do like it, however, because they get a good number of DJs to come out and on Fridays, they throw down a party called Avaland where all the adjacent clubs open up their doors for free traffic to any club you want to go to. With Axis right next door (another electronic venue), you might get lucky with several good DJs in one night.
Exit, I liked because it was so incredibly spacious, the sound system is... decent, nothing great, but the crowd that was there that night (Ferry/Guy Ornadel/Jason Jollins, 4/11/03) was incredible. I had great fun there, the lighting is okay, but I bet it's hard to shape such a big place down with great lighting, but the mist machine is awesome... love that feeling when you stand right into the spot where the mist lands, you can't see anything in front of you and then the strobes hit... damn...
Anyways... that's my $.2

yeah i must agree with NYG...glow hires people from like, the russian mafia to work their doors. they are all so mean and rude!
my experiences with glow bouncers:
1. my friend who was 21, wasnt let it to the club because he "looked young" and they thought it was a fake ID. he had to talk to several managers and bouncers and had to end up signing his signature like how it was on the back of the ID. FINALLY they let him in
2. no one that works there even knows who the djs are! we were in line once and we heard some bouncer go "who the fuck is this dutch buuren guy anyway?" me and liz were fuming.
3. when ian arranged the tranceaddict guest list last time for armin, i went up to one bouncer who was really nice and told me to go see the guy in front of the VIP line. i went up to him and he was like "what guestlist are you on?" and i said "tranceaddict" and he was like "WHATaddict?!" all snotty and rude.
needless to say, these experiences dont make it very enjoyable when you first enter the club. i'd take the one man outside arc, with no line, good vibe, and ROOM TO DANCE over glow anyday!

I still haven't voted.
Count me as the Undecided 1%
I haven't been to enough clubs to vote.
I think Glow is good for it's DJ's. I don't care what anyone says but Buzz used to blow my mind with it's EAW Avalon system. When they cranked up the volume (like Deep Dish usually did) you were were able to hear the Bass from a good distance up the street, even with the traffic
A few of us remember our ears ringing for 3 days one time. LMAO.
