I know I am gonna get flamed for this, but anyway I am gonna push this thread to the next level like the dude who mentioned z-trip (who never ceases to throw the most random shit in the mix).

I cant name another DJ who has mixed hip-hop CDs (the Traffic Jams series) and a Ministry of Sound CD (the American Annual this year).

This isn't to say he is one of my favorite DJs, but that is not what this thread is about (at least I dont think)

Smiley DJ

well, I thought DJ`s did it quite often...

Anyway, I`m throwing a party this weekend and I intend to blend genres a lot, like I usually do... If you want my set, I will record it anyway and I can send it... I`ll go from prog house (James Holden for example) to psy/goa (Infected Mushroom) with some hard pounding Beyer tracks with uplifting trance from different DJ`s like Fire and Ice and Allure...

ffs ur a rite muppet. check out pvd's famous 6 hour sets and come back and say this. and more importantly go take a look at the tracklist i posted for his most recent solo set. gzus i cant think of a dj that structures his sets better than PvD. infact thats one of the main reasons he is my fav DJ.

John Askew and Marco V are 2 others that no how to structure a set very well. Check out sets by these 2

Hero worshipping again i see

it's my opinion and I think paul van dyk does not mix genres well..so you can just shuv it if you don't agree.

No matter what anyone says about your hero...you always come along and try to flame people who think otherwise...grow up

relax, dude. he wasn't flaming.

you stated your opinion, and he stated his. he called you a muppet, and you called him a hero-worshiper.

but anyways, some of you guys posted good examples, 'cept for hybrid. their entire style is based on creating tracks that traverse styles. so they'll do a mix of bt and then they'll do a mix of alanis morisette. i haven't heard too many of their sets that would qualify them under this category.

a good example is a guy named robert oleysyck, whom i doubt too many are familiar with. he's a resident at the circus in las vegas iirc. does a damn fine job.

i would say U.N.K.L.E (james lavelle & dj shadow) is the best for this job! from hip hop, to breaks, prog house, ambient, rock, and just all sorts of insane stuff. damn those 2 guys are crazy!

unkle is not lavelle and shadow anymore

shadow used to be with unkle

now it's really richard file and james lavelle + some other collaborators.

check out James Lavelle's GU Barcelona. The first CD is my favorite. the CD is all over the place and keeps pumping all the way through. absolutly awsome.

Danny Howell's new GU 24:7 is also really awsome. I also prefer the first CD in this album. Its more ambient and chilled out. the second CD is awsome too and more dancey.

I want Howell's new CD like crazy. I read a review of it in BPM I believe and they were blown away.
