Playing CDs or CDRs is great, were I a judge I'd give someone playing those no less credit than a vinyl DJ, however playing MP3s is a bit tacky for obvious reasons.

BUT YEAH THE MIXING WAS SPOT ON FUNNY I THINK IT WAS THE BEST IVE DONE! WHICH IS REALLY WEIRD AS I WAS SO NERVOUS BEFORE HAND! LOL

so wot if its been burned or wotever its one fukin track that i will be buying when it comes out on vinyl in a week or 2 anyway. oh oh god forbid i played a cd-r of it lets all fall down in shock CAUSE NONE ELSE DOES THAT DO THEY! the only difference is everything i had on cd-r i now have on vinyl! so get a life either say sumpthin worthwhile to the thread or just dont bother typing cause no one will tak any notice,god dont u hate guys like this! anyway to the guy who asked about the set yeah i think they recorded it and ill ask for a copy and let u no man! but as for this bullshit about not winning because of playin cd-rs wot a pile of utter crap! so wot ur not a dj if u play cd-rs lol lol wot a pile of toss! so i guess tiesto,armin,pvd,sasha, and every other DJ on the planet arent proper "djs" cause they spin cdrs?

i said you lost because you played an illegal mp3, which is extremely frowned upon, not because you used a CD deck.
and not everybody does it, those who do it are frowned upon within the industry, (check ronski speed and DJ precision).
do a search for L-Vee's and John Digweeds opinion on the matter as well.
in short, stop playing MP3's you twat, and you might win something

I know where your coming from in a way. A lot of my friends like trance, but not enough to spend the money to clubbing on it. Most of my friends like all sorts of genres, and I do to, so it aint that bad. But Id like to have more friends who wanted to clubbing on a regular basis, not seeing my fave DJ's sucks donkey willy.

I've kinda learned to tolerate other kinds of music to save arguing, but yeah, donkey willy suckers all round hehe

hehe, I'm not in wonderland, mate The fact is that I've always been a big fan of electronic music (since I was 10 y.o. actually), and I never hid it from people. In high school, for example, I used to mix chilled out trance CD's to listen during our way home, and since I was the only one in the bus who knew how to mix CD's, I would blend loads of top-40 tunes that people liked with trance anthems and, instead of using my discman, people would ask me to play it on the bus' CD player.

They don't like uplifting trance (makes them sleepy), but I know that they liked drum'n'bass, because it's quite popular now here in Brazil. Therefore, I gave them what they wanted: drum'n'bass. I thank God the amp collapsed, because I believe they would get sick of drum'n'bass after one straight hour (in the end some people were already taking some fresh air outside), so I got back to what they were used to.

All you need to know is to please the crowd. Don't play techno to people who want to sleep nor play ambient for drunk bastards. If your friends like rock, play some big beat and other breakbeat genres for them - they'll hardly have something against it

hey ok calm down guys om i admit i got a bit hotheaded but i never meant to annoy anyone! i just meant that it wasnt really the kinda place to care about that kinda stuff,and i didnt mind at all about not winning cause it looks like i mite get to play maybe regularly(hopefully if everything works out rite!) but i wasnt pissed of at all cause everyone came up to me at sum point in the nite and really gave me great feedback on the set,thats all that mattered to me was that people enjoyed wot i played and "Ste" man u need to calm down i mean i no i was hotheaded earlier but some serious lack of sleep cause that and im sorry to az for that!
