actually no.
And trance comes from Euro-Dance anyway, and in a lot of cases the line is really blurred.

Please don't stir this shit up again.

you have the nerve to bash Lasgo, and then praise something like Cosmic Gate, which REALLY DOES suck?!
where's your reason?!!!
and I bet you call Cosmic Gate "trance"...

STOP THE HYPOCRISY!

lasgo ain't bad...walk on water jesus shit is good, but that's their only good song "IMO". G&D have produce and remix plenty of awesome songs. I think about 90% TA will agree, the other 10 are minority and "unique".

Posted by atxhorn on Aug-08-2003 20:06:

ok, ok

The AMERICAN "mass" consider euro vocal dance trance = dance

and many don't know what the genre "trance" is.

my "r&b" radio station plays walk on water, and many listener
would call up requesting that "dance" song.

Lasgo to me is similar Ace of Base/ real mccoy but more like Sylver....in that they use smoother trance melody where as AceBase slide more to harder dance beat. But 2 the AMERICAN, its all the same. They don't distinguish this.

go suck a fuck !!!!

WOW. If they put him to sleep, why is that any of your business? It's called an "opinion". Personally I like G&D's stuff, but that's just me and not everybody has to like the same things as yourself. The internet is a virtual world, if you can't handle opposing views from your own displayed on a computer monitor, then my advice is, don't use it.

Lasgo?!?! LOL. Aight, I respect your taste and everything, but come on, thats not even trance.. sucks that artists like that are made to be involved into the name TRANCE because companies are using it all for the money.
IM sorry but that lasgo is played on the radio 60 times an hour.. makes me hate it so much!!!

And really, Id like to know how much time you've been digging trance, cause really, for you to say that Tiesto, armin, and gabriel and dresden put you to sleep or basically you dont like them.. arrrgghh.. to me its like, you need more time.

Good Luck

I've been listening to Trance for almost 3 years.

And the funny thing is, I started with what you'd call "deep" epic trance (M.I.K.E., Armin, Tiesto, etc.)

Now I can't stand it. My love is now Euro-NRG-Trance like in Germany. That's the style I write my own tracks in, too.

Posted by SuperFarStucker on Aug-09-2003 00:23:

I'm sorry but there is simply no comparison between "lasgo" which is vocalized shite and say U2 - New Years Day 2000 (ferry corsten less vocal extended dub) which is hands-in-the-fucking-air (epic) trance (i just happened to pick that track cos i was listening to it ^^).

I guess YMMV but i pitty those who think lasgo = anything remotely close to epic/uplifting trance. It's "pop" trance at best, no better than dj sammy - heaven and the likes...

Posted by john2 on Aug-09-2003 02:11:

I don't understand why you guys are so stuck with some dj's.I mean i've heard so many times that PVD is god or Tiesto.Surely Lethal Industry is good or For An Angel from PVD but these are old stuff,we can't stay in these days.Nowadays i've heard Traffic from Tiesto, didn't like it at all,no f*cking way it doesn't have even some sort of melody.Tiesto was good back in the past surely but his latest tracks aren't good (Tiesto's remix in Kane - Rain Down On Me also didn't like it). Then comes PVD with his Nothing But You.Nice track but not the best track i've heard from some people.Or what can i say about Armin,i din't like at all Sunburn or Song Of The Ocean but i adore Yet Another Day.All in all, some tracks are good and some aren't.I am a fan of CJ Stone but his remix in Y-Traxx - Mysteryland is a sh*t and as for Voodoo&Serano their remix in CJ Stone-Don't Look Back is a crap.In the end yes some dj's are good, some are better than others but there are up and downs.I like some tracks from Lasgo, hell even from Milk Inc i like some tracks but i like and tracks from Cosmic Gate (The Wave),Armin,G&D,CJ Stone,Dumonde,RMB etc. What i want from a track??Well first of all to have an outstanding melody, then comes the beat and if there are some good vocals i don't mind.
In the end it all comes down to personal taste and we should love the music and the tracks....not the dj's for some of their tracks (some will say if you don't love the dj's you won't get these tracks, well ok,love them but not stuck ).As for not liking Lasgo......what can you say about Benny's - Satisfaction (which sucks for me )

For those of you who didn't know Ian van Dahl is gonna work with some new producers on the new album and the Lasgo team is one of them.

Hi. I actually like Lasgo. It's not what i listen to daily, it's more the pop part of my music life. I was a huge fan of them before, but there's so much other music to listen to aswell (so called non-cheese)

Peter Luts (1/2 of Lasgo) has actually worked with Christophe Chantzis (1/2 of Ian Van Dahl) before. This was the dance project Astroline. Maybe you know all this.

But my point was to support you. Looks like everybody hates Lasgo etc because it's "cheese" (huh) So ridiculous.
What do you think about Lasgo's 3 newest productions? Wonder, You and Searching...

Can't wait to hear Surrender =)

Um....I don't hate Lasgo.....but I don't like them either

I liked the track "I Wonder". Haven't heard the other two, although last years "Pray" was very weak.

Regarding Peter Luts, Astroline - Close My Eyes (Peter Luts Remix) is one of my favourite "commercial" dance tracks.

Yeah. That's a great tune! =) Also one of my favorites...

Here's my bet..

Im sure everyone here discovered trance from a way or another, like from cheese, or whatever else (i remember someone mentionned armin/tiesto as his/her first artists..?).

I guess people start with cheese (most of the time), and then move on a bit more deep into trance.

Thats how I discovered trance. And then of course moved to something else less cheese.

So let them like 'cheese' so then can move to 'ice cream' afterwards (lame joke, nevermind. You got my point.)

By the way, I liked Alphazone's remix of Try (Ian Van Dahl)

God, im tired. If someone notice that my sentence didnt make sense here, let me know

Posted by KrissO on Aug-10-2003 16:20:

Yeah, that Alphazone remix owns!

But got your point. But i'm not so sure about if everybody starts out with cheese. And it also depends on what you call cheese.
The first electronic music i listened to was Robert Miles - Dreamland. (great album)
Then the years went by, didn't really listen to electronic music.
Suddenly i heard Magik Six. Heh, that's only 3 years ago right ?
Well time goes fast...

Posted by atxhorn on Aug-10-2003 16:40:

i got lasgo and milk inc confused, they both have one beautiful female singer...but the lasgo chick is yummy. Lasgo - something, is pop or dance imo.

haha the thread starter isn't gworn up he has just some things to discover

if you will search you will find better tracks than lasgo with no offence to lasgo but there are way better tracks even if you like lasgo's style

Posted by aloep on Aug-10-2003 16:55:

The Michael Woods Remix of "Try" is the only version I like, and it's really good in my opinion.

Regarding, starting out with "cheese", I'm sure it is a common occurence for many people as most "cheesy" stuff is very chart friendly, and it catches the attention of mainstream listeners who then research further into what genre this is, and therefore get more and more into it. Although not in my case. Without sounding big headed I think it's a safe enough bet to say I've been into electronic music for longer than at least 70% of the people here. I've been listening since 1993 and fully developed my tastes with the mid 90's UK Trance/Progressive house in 1995. I've ended up listening to virtually all styles of electronic music, and that includes everything from Progressive House to commercial "Vocal Cheese". I don't like to draw lines between what I'll listen to and what I won't, I like to keep an open mind and listen to what my ears actually like, rather than worrying about what other people think of me. Check my vinyl collection in my sig to see what my preffered style of music is.

Also, what some people need to learn is the difference between a negative opinion and personal attack. Negative pinions are generally acceptable, and in general should make everything more interesting. However, personal attacks are not acceptable and will turn a thread down a completely wrong thread.

Examples:

Personal Attack:
"wtf? go post this fuckin shit somewhere else you little ******. how the fuck can you like this shit?"

or:

"you dont like Armin??? you don't fuckin like trance you little noob. do urself a favor and go fuck yourself"

That is aimed at the opposing side in person and is attacking somebody for having different tastes. How anybody that's over a single figure age would ever do this is completely beyond me, but I see it all too often.

Negative opinion:
"This track is bland and unoriginal."

That's just stating the point of view from one person and is exactly the thing that forums are for. It's not aimed at provoking anyone, it's not showing any hate towards other person, in no way is it stating that it's a fact, therefore there's nothig wrong with that.

Although it's a waste of time saying that, because no matter how many times that, or something similar is said, it will still happen.

If it wasn`t for Lasgo, Ian Van Dahl , I wouldn t be discovering the trance music scene. I now listen to PvD , Tiesto, Cattaneo And AvB. People should not say that Lasgo is bad for the industry because it did reel me into the better part of the underground industry.

Have a nice day all.
