-- What first got you into trance?

Kinda strange for me. I had always liked video game music since around 1988. I also heard Robert Miles - Children in 96, Insomnia by Faithless in 97, and Windows 98 by Sil (which took me a year & 1/2 to find out the name), all on the radio. I said to myself, this sounds like video game music, with no vocals, just the way I like it. Then in 1999, the commercial for Wipeout 3 for the Playstation came out and played the infamous "Expander" from Sasha.

I was completly amazed. Around the same time, I was in line for Star Wars Episode 1 tickets, and this dude brought a radio with him was playing the tracks from the first Wipeout and Wipeout XL. I went online and discovered more tracks by the artists/DJs in the games. Then, the timing was perfect with the introduction of Napster. The rest is TA history.
WOW, wipeout 3 had xpander on the soundtrack??? crazy..
i can imagine it now, what an idea.. crazy
I got into trance, when I listen to many dance compilations that contained hi-nrg, house and trance. I remember hearing Delerium - Silence, Chicane saltwater, but that wouldnt get me into trance. Then I heard a really good tune J&R Project - Keep it Up, but that still didnt impress me. I d/loaded Paul Van Dyk's tell me why, because I saw it on TV and only like the vocals, then i tried Rank 1's Airwave and commercial trance like Sash's Just Around the Hill. That still didn't get me into trance although I was listening to that stuff around the time. Then I found out DJ Tom Stevens Vs Ralph Fridge - Outface 2000, that was probably only the trance track I liked. Then a few days after I d/loaded William Orbit - Barber's adagio For Strings (Ferry Corsten Remix, it changed my life forever and now you why I talk about this track everytime I post something! You must be sick of me mentioning this track!!!!!!!!!

i actually started off with old rave tapes like ratpack and things like that, mainly bcos thats wot my older brother listened to. then a few years later songs such as faithless - insomnia, cafe del mar, and el nino got me interested. i started doing a bit of djing for mates at parties, and then i moved house to sheffield about a five minute walk from the republic, home of gatecrasher. been going every week since then!
I'd have to say my bro
Ever since his first time at The Guvernment, he's always told me how good the music was there. He told me the names of some songs when he first started going there; Lizard by Picotto, Nervous Breakdown by The Shrink, 1999 by Binary Finary and I was off from there. I'm more into then he is now.

my friend, michelle lent me this album called "club chill". it was techno, though, but that got me started on looking for that kind of music on the internet. mp3's and all.
then my seatmate was listening to this cd [a cafe del mar, i think] and she let me listen to it for awhile. after that, my taste just reached into trance.
About Sasha - Xpander, sorry to change the subject, but hey, when I was searching the better off alone track, I found the CD DREAM DANCE, then I heard the sample of the CD, and it was Sasha - Xpander. I kept E-mailing the site so they could tell me whats the tracks name, they never did. Well, then I had to buy the CD , DREAM DANCE , it had tracks by Marc et claud, Cafe del mar, Fragma, Grace, and SASHA ! plus lots of others that at the time were just magic. Anyways, that Xpander track, was the track that gave me the actual DEFINATE push to where Im now... !!!!

Well, I'd been hearing electronica for years at clubs and with friends, but the song that got me hooked was "Save the Whales" by Silent Harmony. And for the last few years this is all I listen to.
Before last summer I was into trance/techno/house/etc. a bit. But after my cousin bought the Love Parade 2000: One World One cd I fell in love. The song that really got me into it from that compiliation was Members of Mayday - Datapop. Of course, I had to buy the cd immediately, and to this day I still listen to it once in a while.
