Especially from a more independent label like Hooj or any other small record label that people like and respect. The problem is that the record industry (with all genres of music) has ignored the new technologies and its possibilities. Now, people are just used to getting free music. In a lot of ways it's too late for the industry to try and adapt this way, but better late than never. Get used to this kind of thing, it's the future of "official" music distribution. And if you really think 1 quid per song is overpriced, you need your head examined!

its overpriced because its will cost 5 to get the 5trks you find on the cdrs instead of 3.50 for a cd itself!!! and its inferior quality, and dosent have any pysical presence. i know when i buy a new tune i want to have something to show for it to. they should at least have a button to buy all the mixes of one track for 3.50 otherwise its a piss take.

KEY POINT:
in the instance of Locust - Valley Of Love (which is signed by lost lang if im not mistaken) there has been a cd rip floating around for aroudn a fortnight now. It isnt even scheduled by lost lang yet. if you get a higher quality cd rip up to 3 months in advance, are you telling me you will still go and buy and inferior quality wma, 3 months later?! i doubt it. however, my point is i have that mp3 of valley of love and i would be willing to buy a cd in october/november or whenever as i am collector of the discs. i would NOT (and so will alot of others) buy a crappy file.

Agreed. But on the other hand a computer file is way cheaper in distribution etc. So the prices can be much lower. For these two albums I paid $5, in the store I would probably pay 4 times as much. And it's the same music after all. Besides that I'm not that skilled in audio technology and quality, so a 192 kbps version is good enough for me.

Same here. After I downloaded the "Radio JXL - A Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin" cd's and heard the quality tunage they had on them I was one of the first in line to buy the 7am mixes and shortly after I went out and bought "Radio JXL - A Broadcast From The Computer Hell Cabin" since I was so impressed with it when I downloaded the mp3s. I always support my fave artists.

"the last 2 posters, ill make this point again: why pay for something that will be leaked within days onto the hub/soulseek/kazaa or whatever you use. It's just a file..."

Sweet, you know what, i'm gonna stop buying CDs now, and wait for my mates to buy them and copy off them, its just a piece of optical media...

ffs! He said he'd buy the CDs if they released them again. But he can just download them instead of paying for a low quality WMA

well baahhhh

shitest idea ever

you've all gota agree this is well shite

hooj have made a bad choice here. ill just have to see what happens

The people who argue against having pay for d/l just because it'll end up on kazaa are misguided imo. 1st of all it's gonna be there either way, so people who never thought of buying it still wont, but the whole group of people who always say "I'd buy it if only I could use it" will now actualy have the opportunity to buy it. From a buisness standpoint it makes sense, and from a providing music to people standpoint it makes sense too.

im gonna buy a lot of tunes just to get to listen to them..

i think its a fair price to pay just to get to hear it before it gets out; i hate when i want to hear a track and i cant find it..

i cant afford to buy all the vinyls i want, and i think this is a good alternative for those who want to support the artist but cant afford vinyls (and tt)
