K i misjudged you...i apologize...but since u lived those days also...you KNOW that the people in the scene are not the same...u can not deny that....

We can reminice all day long about old parties....how about 1993 The Rave New World Tour with Richie Hawtin, Prodigy and DJ John Acquaviva?....or how about Maskaraves in 1992 with Moby, Aphex Twins, DJ Tim of Utah Saints and a shit load of others....

I dunno...all i know is that when i go to clubs now i see a bunch of shit heads...the vibe is gone....

so i was in middle school then, but thank god it's not the same! you would be bitching that the scene has gone no where since 1992 or whatever the halcyon year was. if it hadn't changed and evolved, it would be absolutely dead by now.

I dunno...all i know is that when i go to clubs now i see a bunch of shit heads...the vibe is gone.... [/QUOTE]

you're older and jaded, i'm still young and i love it all. i'm able to look past the "shit heads" and people who aren't perfect because i love the music, i love to hear and see a dj spin fantastic music. i love to see a crowd react to a good dj.

i think some where along the line y'all have forgotten this is about FUN and ENJOYING yourself. if you don't like where the music has gone, don't listen to it and don't go to the clubs -- if you can't appreciate it anymore, it's over for you. let it go. you may have just grown out of it, or perhaps refused to grow with it. you sound like an overprotective mother who still treats her 18-year-old like a toddler and wonders what happened to her sweet child.

at the risk of becoming a broken record, i'll say it again: why does edm have to be a secret underground culture for it to be good?

its all good bro, those were great days. you will never see lineups like that anymore unless ur going to a massive. they all want too much money.

time for new people (and new artists) to start it up again!

its cool to bump into people from that era as well, come to my loft party after central park

Ya definatley cool finding people from those days.....i would definatley come to your loft party...but sadly the only 2 people on here that actually like me on here are Pyro aka John and Phazon aka Dennis the Mennise....some people think i am hard headed...lol....

By the way have you heard anything on M. Alig's parol?....i think he is about due for parol....and last i heard from Scotto (Old Shelter's and Limelights lighting engineer) was that he has plans to get back into the scene and bring back the old days style parties....no drugs of course...lol....but thats what i heard....we need more guys like him.....uhm uhm without the murdering though...

Posted by Victor Dinaire on Aug-20-2003 15:58:

i think he has at least 3 more years, that would be interesting!

i know scotto, he did lights for me and logic for the haloween parade. i played up 6 ave, it was aweseome

anyways, dont worry man, i invite u and everyone gets along in my place, no bad vibes because we dont tolerate it.

maybe you should talk to the people that r mad and maybe u should apologize to them, it went well for me..

everyone here for the most part is mature and nobody wants trouble

trueness to the scene means more to me then say 50 thousand or whatever they both got for the endorsements....but hey thats me.

Posted by Enervate on Aug-21-2003 00:54:

SERIOUSLY.. you cant have like 4 fans.. fan base needs to grow and find new fans and evolve.. if i didnt hear about pvd or sash and digweed back in the twilo days, i might have thought that charlotte, and amber, and the real mccoy was the best techno had to offer. let these people hear it and decide for themselves, because trance requires too much to fake enjoying it.

haha, sorry it needed to be done...and daffodil made a good point-

tiesto14: why is trance only good when its so underground? just cuz pvd did a motorola commercial doesnt mean hes a sellout. who fucking cares who is a sellout? if a song is good, i'll listen to it. i'll be the first to admit i used to like dj sammy's- heaven....hey, its kinda catchy. does that mean i am a sellout? no. does that mean the song was automatically horrible because pop tweens listened to it too? not necessarily. just dont be so caught up about whos "mainstream" and whos a sellout...

Posted by trancEyes22 on Aug-21-2003 01:02:

hahah enervate- i didnt even see your post!!! i guess we had the same idea....

No it doesn't mean your a sellout....assuming you know the definition of a sellout....listening to DJ Sammy only shows you tend to have poor taste in some of the music you listen to...the song is horrible if noone or everyone listended to it....

You usually only become mainstream when you sellout....in America that is.....

you people need to lighten the fuck up!!! who cares if PVD is in a commercial for Motorola? all you people that think hes a sell out are sell outs yourselves for not supporting somebody that has given so much to electronic music and the scene. did you call him a sell out when you seen his picture on a club flyer or a cd cover? NO!!! so why are you getting all worked up when you see him on tv? im so fucking sick of hearing jaded ass "old schoolers" talk about how washed up and commercial the scene is and how underground it used to be. heres a fucking hint.....TIMES CHANGE!!! so if you cant deal with it......STFU.

well put

Posted by crchingtiger on Aug-21-2003 14:09:

Not only is PVD supporting this commercial, songs by Felix da Housecat, Dj Colette, and other artists can be mixed on the phone as well. I think this is great...commercials have been keying in on dj'ing and such recently, like Sprite's Tropical "Remix." Maybe this is good...the scene needs to expand. It sucks because I didn't get into the scene until the past few years. Now that I appreciate and love it, there's only x number of miles I can travel and x number of shows available to me in a given period to visit a worthwhile event.
But keeping on subject - by selling this phone, people will learn of PVD and others and be inspired to listen to their music.

As for main stream techno, yeah, the majority of it sucks. But as for me, I'm extremely glad it's there...that's where I started out. I heard a few songs from Oakenfold that were catchy, learned of other artists (compared to whom, Oakie sucks), and kept building from that.

As for PVD becoming the next "sell-out," not likely. His upcoming CD doesn't include tracks featuring Nelly Furtado and Ice Cube (like Oakie's)...rather Jan Johnston - hardly a pop princess.

Besides, only those who are fans of PVD know what he looks like. The commercial simply plays his song, catches a glimpse of him driving by in a car, and promotes the phone - they aren't explicitly promoting his name. Most people don't even know who PVD is...nor Tiesto. Those in the scene have just seen their names for so long, they think of PVD and Tiesto as "main stream." Definitely not so.

Posted by crchingtiger on Aug-21-2003 14:23:

It sucks that on a campus of over 44,000 students I can count on my hands the number of people I know that are as avid about the same musical interests as I am. And it's not like we're discrete about it either...walking around in our UFO's, having our headphones on - full volume, full bass, relaxing outside midday discussing a latest mix or track as everyone else is rushing to class discussing the next assignment or test...you get the point.
We play our music at our places of employment...the only way is meant to be played - loud...and get questioned as to what it is at least 10 times every night. This is good - people are interested in it, just haven't been exposed enough to it. That's all that needs to happen.
