i got my frist computer, an amiga 500, over 10 years ago now, and immediatly started to mess around with early 4 channel tracker programs, like octamed, before i knew what techno was really. i think my first definite styles were breakbeat and hardcore, and then later on everything in between. much later, after i got a PC and fast tracker (32 channels .. ohhh yeah) started doing mainly trance and techno. then around 1998 started experimenting with DNB and new software, like reaktor and cubase, although i still use fast tracker for composition, despite people who think im crazy. anyway .. thats the story, like you cared

That's pretty much like me. Before I started playing with Octamed on the amiga (Amiga 500's were a beautiful thing, weren't they?), I was playing with my dad's Korg M1 and Atari ST running Sequencer One (anyone remember that?) in the early 90's, however I didn't really get serious until I spent some time clubbing in the UK in 98 and decided to make some proper music like what I heard. So really, I'm over 10 years too...shame I forgot about the Atari thing when I voted

I made my first "real" track something like 2 years ago (date file created: June 14 2003).

Posted by Project 7 on May-05-2005 17:53:

4 months w00t

Posted by Beyer on May-05-2005 19:58:

One and a half years now! My tracks sounded horrible before I bought a set of studio headsets. Now my tracks sound way more pro. But I need at least one year still I think, to reach the point I'm after. As far as composition is concerned, I'll improve as long as I'm having fun with it I guess!

Posted by djkoso on May-05-2005 22:03:

hmm starting 3 years ago

Seriously hmmm half Year ago ?

Posted by LfmC on May-07-2005 00:20:

Smoking ..umm..something

5 years now..has it been that long?
94 finished tunes (melodic trance, goa, ambient...)
377 unfinished projects in fruity
280 unfinished projects in cubase

...and I still suck.

But getting better all the time..and having fun.

Only a little more than 2, methinks. Only recently started to actually get to be any good at it.

At the time this thread was made, though, I had been producing for, at most... two months?
