Well guns in the US are a large problem, however its moslty the unlicenced gunz that are used in crime which makes trackin legal gunz a pointless waste of time.

I can't understand why the US gov. is making laws like this, which basically fight music, when they have such huge problems with guns etc. Where else in the world are there such frequent school shootings/such high levels of private gun ownership?

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Aug-30-2003 17:34:

I think canada has more registered guns then the US but there are WAY higher gun shootings ect. in the United States...
Im not 100% sure about this so feel free to correct me

What about unregistered though?

Ubber cool thread hijacking

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Aug-30-2003 18:35:

Hahaha, i forgot about that..

i think the US might have more unregistered guns then Canada, but again, i could be wrong. I don't know if you can really keep a count on unregistered guns because they aren't registered!

Believe it or not guys, there is a way to stop this shit but it can take some time. For one, start supporting young political candidates locally who understand parties and drugs and the music.

vote eliodiiorio Richmond Hill Councillor - Ward 5
joedipaola Richmond Hill Councillor - Ward 6

You guys are the next power. Once you guys start to realize how many people and groups are fed up in their own way with the bullshit leaders that control everything, there will be a wave of change, and a collapse of the existing power structure. The movement grows.

You are the future. Let's make the rest of the world realize it.

How can they even HOPE to ban EVERY dancing club in the USA???

Posted by Grahf on Sep-03-2003 04:05:

there is a simple solution here... let me quote the first line of the bill for y'all, maybe it will jump out at you:

"Whoever profits monetarily from a rave or similar electronic dance event..."

Anybody guessed it?

Yes, that's right, throw free raves.

I haven't been to the chillout room in forever, so I just noticed this topic.
Luckily it has been posted in every other EDM related forum in the US
Not only as a fan and a lover of EDM, but also as a promoter for EDM events in DC, this cause is particularly important to me.

maybe this has been said before, I didn't take the time to read through this thread...
My belief is that one of the main problems in direct responsibility for the RAVE act is IGNORANCE. The general American public is horribly ignorant about EDM music & culture altogether. All they see is the tabloid news reports on ecstacy busts and immediatley associate all things EDM with rampant drug use. If we could fix this ignorance somehow, then we wouldn't even have to worry about drug use in the first place, because people would be intelligent enough to use them properly and safely, unnafecting others. And I agree with what previous people have said: the best way to stop this ignorance is by educating people, most importantly our politicians, on the EDM culture, and get new people in office who understand it more thouroughly. This is true for many issues in this country, especially the anti-drug campaign...officials need to realize that scare tactics don't work, and they do nothing but feed people missinformation, which will lead to even more problems. Slowly I think they are coming around on this problem, although they still fail to acknowledge the worst drug abuse in this country is ALCOHOL. This seems to be shrugged off for some reason, even the anti-marijuana adds are getting much harsher than the anti drink&drive ones ever were. But that is a whole nother issue altogether I suppose.

I will be attentding this event tomorrow for sure, and I encourage everyone who possibly can to come out to this event, if for nothing else than to simply show that this issue is important to a lot of people, real people, regular people, not some estranged minority.

As it says on the inlay of The Prodigy - Music For the Jilted Generation: "How can the government stop young people from having a good time? Fight this bollocks!"

It was ok ... it was more ravey than clubby but that was to be expected. It was free, it was nice outside, and you can't beat the location so I had a good time. One thing I didn't get was that the party was called ROAR ... doesn't roar stand for right of admission refusal?

Hehe oh yea, and the group of kids who were munching pills and blatantly rolling directly in front of me were a good touch.

Hi this is my first post, great web site and all

Anyway back to the subject. The problem with politics's anywhere is there dont look for the real problem and just go for the quick fit. I was shocked at reading what there where trying to do. The problem with these people is there dont have a clue what they onabout. Am from england and have been clubbing since i could get in to the clubs and i have never realy come across a big drugs problem. Yes people do take drugs and you will never change that, as i have seen bigger drug problems in schools then clubs, And that where i feel its starts, but you will never see them banning schools becoue of its problems.

I have never been to ameracia but reading the posts the problem seems to the with the attitude with the people how are rununing these events. In england most events and clubs i have been to do random search check's and dont let people in who they think are on drugs. And with the water issue, there should make it illegal to charge for tape water and should make it that you have to give out tape water if anyone wants it. I dont do drugs but i have been out and drink abit to much and became dehydrated, and this has happened accopale of times, and when ever i have asked for a pint of water i have got it for nothing. Even if you dont do drugs the drink and the heat can still be dangrase.

The problem does not lie in the music, that there are doing is moving the problem some where eils, what there need to do is to work with the people who are runining these events, and help to cut out the problems, and if they dont then close them down.
