you actually liked gangs of new york? i found it such a waste of time... anyways, fear and loathing is wicked, blow was cool too... dude, you should seriously check out Hurly Burly (w/Sean Penn, Meg Ryan...), since it seems like you like movies that deal with getting wasted on drugs... you'll love it, trust me!

Yeah, Gangs was one of the better movies I've seen lately.... Thanks for the recommend of Hurly Burly, it was pretty funny. EXCELLENT cast on this flick dude. Sean Penn played one bad fiend. Kevin Spacey and Gary Shandling played awesome roles too, and Meg Ryan is a babe. I laughed pretty hard at the scene when Phil walked in the house and wanted to watch football. Good stuff. 7.5 / 10.

The beginning is slow.

It gets much better in the second and third rooms.

Here's some I don't think I saw mentioned:

Thirteenth Floor - Just a great movie, well worth the time to watch it. Couldn't move from my seat, blew away all my expectations.
The Last Boyscout - One of my all-time favorites; Bruce Willis is the man, perfect blend of comedy and action
Mulholland Drive - Messed up movie from Lynch, you have to watch it a couple of times to pick up on all the things
Gattaca - Really loved this the first time I saw it, not one to watch over and over again once you know how it goes
The Boiler Room - Fucking class movie! The best movie that Ben Afleck and Vin Deisel have been in. You may not like their commercial shit, but this one is awesome
The Game - What could possibly be my favorite movie of all time. I've never been so glued to the screen before. Michael Douglas is just amazing in this. If you haven't seen it, YOU MUST.
Enemy of the State - Will Smith's best movie, Gene Hackman is really good as well. I'm sure most have seen it, but this is one that I can watch over and over.

Pulp Fiction, Resivor Dogs, Go!, Fight Club, Heat, Scarface, Gladiator, Face off, Seven ...... I could go on (I own all of those and much more on DVD btw).

Just saw The Prestige (Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman), wonderful story!

Has anyone seen ALTERED?

quote:
Fifteen years ago, five men were abducted by aliens. Only four returned. Now, these same four men have managed to capture one of the creatures who killed their friend and ruined their lives. It's time for payback but payback swings both ways.

I went to Hollywood video today and saw this, but i picked up Prestige instead.

and then there's Beings, which is an extraterrestrial take on on Blair Witch Project. I heard about it a while ago, yet nothing has seemed to progress past the Teaser stage.

Posted by shaw on Jun-07-2007 01:24:

I liked the Prestige, too...nothing amazing, but a fairly good rental, imo.
