Being patriotic is like being in these stupid alliances; both have people that are insecure.

This must be the perversity thread. Sick! And, there is no such thing as everyone, and every county being equal.

Smiling Frog

A true patriot is one that recognizes the faults and problems of his or her country, and does their best to mend them.

A true patriot does not allow their pride to cloud their vision or perception of worldly events.

A true patriot enjoys wild monkey sex.

Wild monkey sex eh?

Dave, are you trying to say you are a true patriot and that we should call the zoo and tell them to lock the monkeys up?

Nice article Occ.

However, a dictionary definition is one thing, its practical usage in every day society is another. By their basic definitions, the two of them are different by their actual usage they are not. Its not just this that suffers, many other words too.

Besides, the amount of people who could be considered truly patriotic, rather than nationalistic, is so infinitesimally small anyway.

Finally, even using the correct usage of the word patriotism, you still dont get to choose what country youre born in so why should you love your country? And anyone who says well just move then will get an official Spin Dr. bitch slap across the face.

Well you can love the opportunities and the benefits your country provides you. I'm thankful that I'm guarunteed certain liberties outlined by the bill of rights among a number of other things. And I'd like to exercise my civic responsibilities (voting, jury duty, selective service, etc.) to make my country a better place.
