bah, real life is for suckers. The whole point of the world is that everyone else is stupid and you should take advantage of them (and take their money while youre at it). Its all about sales!

you clearly didnt read my entire post.
i said i understand thinking hes irresponsible for buying the car and for having to work that much to pay it off. however, there have been sentiments in the thread about how if someone works too much, that is something you should get away from.. which i dont think is true. coupled with being irresponsible, id agree. i was speaking to those people who were talking about the former, not the latter.
grab him by the nutsack and poke him in the eye

| Originally posted by sothis i understand the part about not wanting to be with someone who would be frivalous with their money. however. the fact that hes gone all the time? thats called real life, with a real job yea, its not 9 to 5, but hell.. programming jobs usually require 10 hours a day. you make shitloads of money, but you have to work your ass off for it. my sig other understands this, since he is in the same field of work. all of you must be used to dating other teenagers with part time jobs at burger king or something the real world generally takes much more time and energy, and the fact of the matter is, sometimes you cant spend as much time with your partner. dont like it? neither do any of us. but thats life. |

If you really like him, keep him around.
BUT!
Since hes not around so much, get yourself a side dish, or a back up to keep you occupied till hes available.
(Back-ups are always a good thing to have around in the first few months of a new relationship)

Everyone... thank u soooooo much for your advice. I'm just going to go with the flow and see what happens. and if things don't shape up within the next couple weeks, i might go my seperate ways.
It's sad but it comes down to money alot of times. I think part of the reason me & my ex seperated is because we never spent time together & slowly faded apart. I was 17 when I moved out with her & we both worked alot to pay the bills. I should've known better and not have gotten myself into the mess when I wasn't ready, just like him & that car. I also know how girls need attention constantly so you probably wouldn't be so happy with him. This is why girls go for the older more mature guys many times. They're secure & have all the time in the world. Makes me jealous, but oh well. Good luck & don't beat around the bush when you break his heart. Just be honest, I wish my ex was with me.

you can sacrifice a lot to make it work but you have to decide if that is really worth it. if your relationship develops with you always conceeding around his schedule he will be able to walk all over you. everyone needs to be able to support themselves but you have to take his lifestyle and committments to work into consideration when deciding whether the relationship is worth it. sadly, it's not just about emotions, compatiblity, and interest.
the drama...THE DRAMA...NEVER ENDS!!!!!!!!!!

Geez, what bullshit. I'd sell my car and ride a friggin "Dumb & Dumber" moped before I ever lost the love of my life. |
i think that its admirable for him to be working so hard to pay off whatever expenses he has, but at the same time, maybe its not wise to start a relationship with him at this stage in his life. he seemed 100% focused on his work, with little time for even leisure for himself, no less you. if you are the type of person who can handle not seeing him everyday, then i say go for it. some people just need that attention/affection every day. i can relate tho- my bf doesnt work a lot, but he lives about 11 hours away from me (he's in the army)....its def hard but i have my space and he has his and i always have something to look forward to- the next time i see him...
so good luck! i hope you two figure something out. he does seem to really care, but you just cant take his overworking personally.

yes, yes he would/is hehe
