recent trance has been very high quality in composure and beat quality in my opinion...best example is tiestos Nyana cd...great example of good trance

Posted by Slylee on Sep-16-2003 03:35:

as if none of you people were ever "noobs" and started a thread that was started a year before you became a member. chill out. and, yes, traNCE IS DEAD it's all about new school breaks and progressive.

Posted by Sinistar on Sep-16-2003 07:27:

alright douchebags. let me make some things crystal clear.

i like trance. im also from america, in the heartland. it may surprise you, but no electronic music gets coverage here. there for, i dont have a clue as to what is going on. i hear its been a slow year. and that its been slow for awhile. so, there for, i ask this question.

i asked the question with no attitude, nor was i trying to flame up a prog/trance war again. it was a simple fucking question. youd think that would be right up some ppl on tbis threads alley.

yet the enlightned members of this board, evidently, trash me. i dont know why.

but ill ask you assholes one thing: if it was so painfully ignorant a question, why not just let it drop from the board hmmm? why be a cocksucker? maybe you could explain why you just HAVE to run your mouths?

do you ppl still go out for recess?

yeah its completely dead ..
err...
ps:Life isnt that simple is it..shouldn't you think about what you ask...instead of making people sympathize about some one's stupidity
Asking if trance is dead on a pre=dominantly trance board.

old-school epic/uplifting trance is dead or dying.

but trance as a whole? no way.

Ohio is for country music only

You want coverage of trance, u came to the right forum

Posted by djshan on Sep-16-2003 13:51:

no trance isnt dead but its growing. in canada its undergound. everyone here that isnt a trance listener thinks that trance is the kind of music that they play on z103.5, like heaven by dj sammy, for eg. i mostly listen to trance that was made in 2000-2001. not alot of good new stuff coming out these days, but im sure it will grow.

Posted by igottaknow on Sep-16-2003 14:36:

I'd say trance is on the decline. More diplomatically phrased its evolving into something new. Don't fear the reaper. Btw havent u heard they're trying to recall trance of the ballet in Cali.

Posted by Taz on Sep-16-2003 16:04:

Well here's the thing. Trance is not new anymore, and it never will be again.

That's the reason why the recent "traditional"-sounding stuff seems so dry, and that's also the reason why you now have a lot of line-crossers and straddlers, i.e. tunes that really lean toward the deep-house or tech side and are just barely classifiable as trance. You have to stretch now.

Trance used to really be the 'arena rock' of electronic dance music. And it still is, in a way, but the earlier uplifting stuff was really special, the inspriation was fresh.

Several things are getting in the way. The crackdowns on phyle-schwapping (take that ye web-bots ), the new US bills being passed, the stigmas from joe public, less big clubs in Europe, these have cut things down and made everything harder for everyone from the producers to the fans.

It's hard to tell what's next but the demand for something really good is there.

Ah, the old question about trance, could have swore I heard this queston 10, 5, 2 years ago you get the point, people will keep asking and I will keep on partying. Partying till eternity that is. So that answers that question. There is a lot of cheese out there but true TAs know the good stuff from the bad stuff for the most part. Peace, Trance and Happiness.

trance is very much alive...maybe it's the intelligence of some of tranceaddict's members that's dead...
