There are many, but these come to mind right now:

-Why people who obviously spend hours every day on the internet can't take the extra couple of nanoseconds to spell out words completely so they don't look like complete morons (u, ur, any acronyms ending in -z, etc) [Acceptable ones are: lol, omg (or omfg, but not omgz or omfgz), stfu, ffs]

-Why people use ??????? when asking a question (as if the extra question marks help)

-Why any tune PVD plays warrants an OMFG I DIE!!!!111 when it wouldn't even draw attention if someone else played it

-People who think they are l33t and carry over their gaming 5|>35|< to forums (!!!111!, any word containing numbers, gg, pwned, et al) You aren't playing CS, save it for later!

u, ur, etc are useful in instant chatting as you need to be quick most of the time, and stuff like r0x0rz or sex0r is just silly harmless fun

Hehhehe, again, simple boredom relief, anyone who usees it thinking it is actually cool has issues, but it again can be fun in a playful context

that's easy, because the GUI of IRC automaticaly filters out most of the AOL users who switched to MSN and wanted to try IRC. thus, most of the "leet" people are on IRC who understand that changing nicks all the time is stupid and lame.

all the IRC rejects, however, started using MSN.... and there you go.

of course, with java-based IRC chatrooms we still have AOL hours, but not as many.
