Sound Emporium has got to be one of the most mismanaged venues in the city.

Hmmm... that's questionable. The actual management of the club is fine. I think it's a lot of the promoters they've gotten in to throw events since they renovated that have been doing a poor job. They just need to be a little more discriminative about who they allow to throw events at their venue...

The club itself it top notch though!

I'm not yet sure whether I'll be able to attend this event due to tight school schedule and some other matters, but I trust Dennis that it will be a very well organized party !

Fresh Entertainment Friday's at Revolution in Waterloo rock, hence I'm sure they can throw a great party in TO as well. J00F is amazing, his style is very different from other trance DJs.

Same goes for me. I've heard JOOF before, but not Scumfrog. Can anyone recommend a recent Scumfrog set to d/l?

Sad

Nice event Denis, I think you told me about this outside Franky Tomatoes, but still.... I'm gonna cry AVB, J00F, and PVD all in one month and I have to wait 1.5 years too....

Nice. Congrats Dennis and partner.

Thanks! I am also extremely pumped for this night!! John seems to be getting more and more into my Style of trance, so after missing him @ Viva in the spring I cant wait to hear him live again, for its been too long!

If you havnt already, check out his webpage... John has had quite an amazing career, and life.. its quite an inspirational read and he has a great attitude towards the global dance scene. I suggest doing it like I recently did, go to his webpage and in the bottom left corner you will see a link to his Ministry of Sound radio show and click on his exclusive goa set, then go back to his page and browse over his biography... dayum!

Just so you all know there are 4 members of Fresh in total, and even with all our busy schedules, together we make up one dedicated unit.

wow..I really dont know what to do about this!
I think John will win out.

I base this on my experience there, and also that of a well-known DJ who played there and experienced mega problems with sound and setup. (this DJ personally told me this - not cool at all!)

The club specified that the door price was $20, but insisted at the door that it was $25. The drinks were insane. The sound was awful. The staff was rude.

I won't ever go back there again.

to all those people that complain about not being old enough.. just find someone who looks remotely like you and use their ID!! its so easy, trying to make a fake is retarted, you cant fake a drivers license, and they laugh if you try anything else.. no excuses

Posted by Greg Benz on Sep-17-2003 04:41:

Hey Guys,

I'm really looking forward to this night!! I haven't seen 00 since a few years back at System.... Should be a wicked night

Cheers guys

Greg.

yea the sound is awful...bartenders are a joke as well. I was buying drinks there all night once from one of them and after 2am I order a cup of water from the other one across the dance floor and the bitch tells me I HAVE to get bottled water. Then after I tell her that what she told me is a health code violation she gets me my fucking water...grrr

shit like that really makes me want to get a buddy of mine who works with the legalities of that shit to come down there with me and slap a fucking fine or a liscense suspension on those motherfukers but I now I'd be hurting the owners more than the dumb bitch who would get fired.

whatever at least I rubbed the loonie tip I gave her all over my asshole lol jk

We're looking forward to having you Greg!

Thats unfortunate about some peoples experience @ the club... I have been there twice recently to the penthouse (upstairs) where our event is and it sounded great to me, most notably to see Randall throw down some rugged dnb that could be heard from a block away! the drinks alltho pricey, were the same as most other large clubs in town... Needless to say we will be making sure that everything is top notch before our event, trust! Fresh is all about taking the extra steps

Its great to have you on board Greg! looking forward to seeing you in action

Yeah that's definately too bad that some people had a bad experience there... we can't change what's happened there in the past, but this IS our party, and we do have control of alot of things. We'll be looking to spruce the club up a little to add the the ambiance, sound included if necessary... it's too important to ignore! Our company does it right and we've always been proud of that.

As for staff and drink prices, it's no better anywhere else... what can you expect from a downtown club..

no prob. in my opinion, it's the people who are running the show, not the club. cool lasers don't make the vibe, it's the crowd that does.

drink prices are fine but the bartenders as a whole suck ass...there are exceptions of course. aslo...it is sooooo hootttttt in there. systems ventilation (main room) is unmatched in my opinion.

Posted by Dennis Hahn on Sep-19-2003 13:28:

Judging from your experience I can imagine how you feel about the bartenders... overall what we're looking at doing is adding a few things to the club to spruce it up and make the experience better.. we're going to be at the club a few times before the event to assess things like sound and lighting and see what needs to be done.

Just try not to base anything on past experiences!

Posted by Tygon on Sep-24-2003 13:56:

I'm goin' to this one for sure... although J00F's been to TO a few times, he gets better and better every time he's here.. QUALITY trance at its finest!

Posted by jpgrdnr on Oct-05-2003 16:09:

John Flemming is crazy (in a good way). His exposure mix was heavy and hard! I'll definitely have to think about going to this one.
