random mix of prog/breaks/trance. all i think are outstanding production wise. very intelligently produced. i love songs which are versatile in the sense that they comptely blur the lines btwn different (sub)genres but yet you can hear the distinct elements in songs which are clearely borrowed from another genre. dunno if that makes sense but yeah...

i second xpander, nobody's home, finished symphony and many others that have been stated.

pretty much every song on Danny Howells GU 24:7 Disc 1 is very cleverly constructed and is an awsome song. Definatly check that album out.

also two other Albums you may really like with some clever songs are Sasha & Digweed's Northen Exposure 1 and 2 (the first CD's from both compilations).
they have some cool songs. some of my favs. that stick out are finished symphony as stated above, frontside - dammerung, gus gus - purple, future sound of london - coscade, rabbit in the moon - out of body experience

Lots of Sasha tracks are very well layered & constructed.. Xpander, Rabbitweed, Belfunk, Fundametal are all great.. also Jam & Spoon - Stella[Nalin & Kane remix], Vincent de Moor - Shamu[Armin mix], Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave[Albion remix], Moby - Extreme Ways[Tiesto mix] and Goldenscan - Sunrise[Ronski Speed remix] are all nicely constructed tracks.

rob dougan - Clubbed To Death (Hybrid Remix) Pure Genuis...

Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill (Infusion Remix)

Posted by [ groovypants ] on Sep-19-2003 01:49:

I agree, Charlie May and Sasha tracks are really well constructed, the flow and progression of lets say, Expander, is mind blowing - the layers are perfectly placed, and respond really well with one another, a very very "natural" feel with this track!

Also:

Leama - Requiem for a Dream
Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams (Gerg Murray remix)

Jan Johnson - Flesh 2002 (Tiesto remix) <=== structured really well.

Sasha - Belfunk

Most of the tunes listed I have heard but the one thats new and stands out the most to me is :

Cosmic man - I love you (version 1.4)

I dunno why, but this song has a very unique sound to me:

Sunblind- Believe 2003 (Voltaxx Remix)

Posted by Raptor on Sep-19-2003 07:01:

108 Grand - Te Quiero (Darren Emerson remix)

i never heard any song with this many layers. this song is too crazy! if anything this would define prog for me. if you haven't heard this i suggest you find it!

Hong Kong Trash - Down The River
Bermuda Triangle - Mooger Fooger
Unkle feat. Richard Ashcroft - Lonely Soul

Posted by spit_heron on Sep-19-2003 15:21:

i'm not sure what "cleverly constructed track" means, i guess its open for interpretation. But as far as "layered" tracks goes, i think thats heavily influenced by the genre, i.e prog lends itself to these type of tunes well (like everyone was saying with Xpander, and stuff from holden and the like), even tribal house sounds good with layers over layers (though in a simpler construction). Trance though just gets "messy" with this type of production.

Most good trance songs are relatively simple with a catchy melody and a phat beat. Of course there are exceptions to the rule, Bt's 'trancier' tunes seem cleverly contructed to me (though this is prob because he pulling from many diff genres.)

Sasha - Xpander by far, if u really really listen to it, n hear every noise, its a work of art
