Christ dude, if youve waited 5 years why cant you want another few months? Like I said before you obviously have zero idea what it takes to create a game this massive. Neither do you have any idea how hard this game is going to rock - its going to completely blow the envalope in every way possible. You should be thankful your getting the opportunity to play a game this awesome in the first place.

first off...for the first delay many believe it's because of the source code getting stolen. If you actually followed this, then you'd know that Gabe Newell first noticed something suspicious around September 17th (someone accessing his email account, etc). It wasn't until about a week later that they noticed that somebody copied the Source tree.

Now, *PLEASE TRY* to think for one second. Imagine you're Valve, and you find out that the source code for your game has just been copied and someone has it. Do you have any idea what this would do to you financially AND to the gamers who buy this game if it was released on september 30th? Multiplayer Hacks would be available for it the moment it would release. People would be able to play it without registering it on Steam. Can you think what this would lead to? THINK

ANother thing the source code would allow hackers do is hack into Steam and copy everybody's credit card number. How would you like it if some 14-year-old loser copied down your info?

Not only that, but since the CORE of the game (the AI, the physics, everything) is on the net...any half-assed company can get it now. Imagine some 2-bit company who couldn't release an impressive game if their life depended on it gets a hold of this? They switch around a few things, and BOOM! Everything Valve worked on over the 5 years is available to anyone.

Half-Life 2 will not fail. I can bet you on this. I can bookmark this thread and pop it back up for you when the game gets released and we'll see who was right.

Ok, I was a little high earlier so I talked a little shit, but anyways, on a more serious note I dont care about Half-Life 2 right now as I did about few months ago.
Valve screwed everyone and thats a fact, but I dont care anymore, as far as Im concered they can not release it at all, and I wouldnt give a fuck.
There are tons of kick ass games coming out, and I wont miss Half-Life 2 one bit.
All this drama happend because Valve wanted to FORCE users to use that shitty ass program called steam (of shit), and they paid for it heavily.
Im done with this "internet war", this is my computer and my internet connection and I'll do and download whatever I want!

Im not jealous of anyone.. I have the beta myself.. but Im still gonna buy the game cuz multiplayer is one of the best features on half-life. It also deserves to be bought. Half-life is a legendary game. U can go ahead and keep ur downloaded Devil cuz u aint gonna be playin online with it, well unless u play on that dumb gamespy shit.

Downloading the game is just a way to test it out before buying it IMO. I had the Halo beta.. now I bought the Halo game cuz it deserved to be bought...

I also have Max Payne 2. Its an amazing game but its on a totally different level than Half-life 2

Lots of games are delayed every year, and each of them have their respective feedback. Diakatana was this huge project delayed and delayed and it failed. Half Life came out of nowhere and completely re-wrote the rules of FPS which has inspired games such as Halo and Doom3.

I don't really have a problem with the Anon release mainly 'cus its not too much of the game, but more as a playground for the awesome physics.

Actually djSlain, I was just mad, Im still planing on buying it.
I just downloaded the beta to check out the game and get a feeling, thats it, Im stil certain I'm buying it.
