I wouldnt blame the immigrants for moving to the major rural areas of Canada, why do most people live there in the first place?
better weather (somewhat)
way more opportunities
all known major corporations have offices there....
others of the same ethnic background so they dont feel alone/deserted in an unknown place..
most opportunities for career advancement
basically I think it comes doewn to the fact the gov't needs to make these areas more attravtice for newcomers and citizens. Only then they will get the influx they are looking for out west and in the Maritimes.....otherwise it will most likely stay the same

anyways, joke aside >first of all to get back to the original part of the discussion, canada has a huge backlog in asylum applications under the old law as the new law (since june 2002) is not applicable retroactively ...meaning lots of people are trickling through the system and often unjustifiably deported without a chance to appeal -as that mechanism of our 'effective' immigration system has also been removed by the honourable coderre!!!) ;
secondly, they did not make their set quota of accepting new immigrants this year (hence this whole argument);
and, thirdly, the CIC and IRB are fully aware that new immigrants are clustering in the urban areas, so they are trying to accept ppl more in the blue collar range in order to move them out to the less populated rural areas. *anyone up for living with mennonites and hutterites in the mid-ieval ages! hehehe!!
on the other hand when talking in respect to accepting skilled workers etc. they are not given the chance of applying their professions, PhD's and what not's as Canada will not recognize other professions unless u re-educate, which again costs money and time -and the rest of the consequences you can think yourselves ... probs over probs agh!! ...
and on top of that -as we talked about earlier -those lazy mofo's ur talking about who sit on their asses all day and do nothing (sounds like TA's to me!! ahahaha!) ehhummm...well, what would you do if the guvernment offered you loads of cash to sit on your ass and you're better paid than scrubbing a toilet at min. wage?
it's all a matter of the system!!! it sux! end of story! ... that's my job to try and fix it ...so shut up and dance!
see you all next w-e!!

oohihihi desi! u unveiled me!
Abbas: Don't you go to Mac (Engineering?)? What is your internship a/what are you doing? Just curious. I went to Mac as well.
i hate when people start threads like this. 90% of the people that start shit like this havent even wondered outside their back yards yet alone been to a diffrent country. for every Canadian that wants to sit there and talk about how bad America is.....you dont have a fucking clue how simular our countries are alike. Abbas....just cause you had a couple bad experiences in VA doesnt mean its like that everywhere. Iv been all over the states and been to Toronoto plenty of times and i have to say man......TO isnt Gods gift to North America
If you wanna bitch about how fucked up a country is, try spending three months in Saudi Arabia where they cut your body parts off in front of hundreds of people for shoplifting. not that it happend to me but ive been there.

no, im totally not basing my opinion on those events I listed above, I actually kinda like it here, although I lack a social life because I'm new, but I live in the richest county in the US, so I mean its a pretty nice area
I was told VA is one of the nicest regions to be, and I mean I live a 5 minute drive from DC
but I still like Canada better, as I said its my opinion based on a number of things, not because I saw a dude rob the bank

| Originally posted by vtec junkie yeah that part of VA is really nice....my uncle and aunt live there in a $5 million pad.....he played for the Washington Redskins for 13 years. Abbas.....come out to Glow one night bro....we will make you feel right at home.....the vibe is awesome |
Abbas: I just finished nursing last year. I have some friends in your program (I lived with a few people in SWR ENG and MGMT), I wonder if you know them? What year are you in?
On the other topic. I love the States, I have been to VA many times. I love it there. I just got back from a trip to Pennsylvania and I love it there too. In many ways I prefer the States to Canada. Canada has it's benefits too. I'd much much rather travel in the States, that's for sure. As for raising a family someday, I'd probably stay in Canada, who knows.

| Originally posted by Abbas Wow, thats pretty sweet, I'd love to have a house like that in the future...when did he retire from football? Yeah, I wanna go out to Glow, I haven't been doing much since I got here last month.....are you planning to hit up any of the events lined up for October? |
