Honestly people, read the thread... this is a myth, it's NOT TRUE. It won't help. And the link to acne.org has already been posted.
People get so anxious to give their expert advice, they don't even realize it's been posted already... |
I know if I eat stuff I'm allergic to I get spots, so it's not BS that it matters what you eat. I don't eat most grains or milk much anymore. Also try proactive that works pretty good, and accutaine.

Its not a myth. Unfortunately I also had acne, and I gaurantee you that when I changed my eating habits to more water, zero sugar, and more healthy, vitamin filled foods, it improved DRAMATICALLY. Go ahead and disagree, but the prove was indeed in the pudding.
A few other things you should avoid doing... PICKING AT IT. Never pick at it, for any reason. Or pop them. They may be gone temporarily but they will come back twice as strong and last twice as long, because you expose them to bacteria. You also dig bacteria in with your fingernails when you pick/pop. Picking it also causes scaring.
By the way, avoid at all costs powerful drugs like acutane, and the rest. Just go read some of the fucking side effects. Its absurd, how anyone could condone putting that into their body is beyond me. They do far more harm than good, acutane especially will dry your entire body out like the sahara desert (exact words of my doctor). And I thought acutane is the strongest... now your telling me theres something stronger. Thats absurd. Ive heard plenty of stories of people having all sorts of complications down the line after taking acutane.
It WILL go away on its own. When, is something thats difficult to answer. But look, theres worse things in the world than having it. You have to ask yourself what you want more, potentially harmful drugs and side effects in your body for a temporary solution, or do you want to stay healthy? Oh, acne aside, eating no sugar, processed foods, or junk foods does wonders for your long term health.

My nipples fell off with roaccutane.. hahha..
Btw Oratan, Accutane, its all the same shit, Roaccutane is the original medicine, just that diff companies manufacture it under a diff name.
Acne.org regime sounds cool.. ill start it once my roaccutane medication finishes, btw the only problem ive had with Roac is that i get really dry lips, hence why i have to apply lip balm every 40 mins. But i can live with it...
Ive only got one nose bleed, but thats acceptable since its only happened once.
BTW just a Q, im up to my last week, does anyone else get extremely red skin? and does it eventually clear up or not?
Anyways enough from me from now...

hasn't helped my spots go though, it's been 2 months since i finished the medicine, and they are coming back just as they were before - i have a dermatology appointment in a few weeks to check up on my progress - and i'm quite pissed off |
it depends on your fiziology... THE MAIN REASON FOR ACNE TO OCCUR IS SIMPLY: THE DISBALANCE OF HORMONE. Roacutane does the trick because it balances hormones in unnatural way, tho it may do damage to anyone with weak immune system... i think the same happened to you...

thanks god that in England we get free health care - and our medicines are subsidised |
yup, the same here in LTU... have no problems with tha skin, but at least you can get all the help from proffessionals for free...

take accutane.. i took it for 6 months and very rarely get a zit anymore..
Posted by butterfly on Oct-07-2003 18:22:
sugar affects my skin tremendously, as does dehydration. my skin also tends to clear a bit when i have had a little sun. most importantly, it goes in cycles with my hormonal cycle. one week of the month is far worse for my skin. birth control helped control it a lot but i still get break outs sometimes. especially when i have been eating a lot of candy. the pillow thing is very true too.

The most frustrating thing ever. So much for my college homecoming that I planned to attend. Unless this shit goes away in a week I will not be there, way too sensitive. Now I have to pay a visit to an expensive ass dermatologist, just to get an expensive ass prescription written and purchased from pharmacy, total= $190. Yep thats right. No God could be that cruel to create zits, they suck major ass. Hope they disappear soon really wanted to go to that homecoming. Damnnnnnnnnnnnn. Well that's my vent for the night. Thank goodness for a TA chillout room. I know their are more important things in life but little things like this really gets to me. Guess I'm a bit anal. Later guys. |
i dont knwo abot all of you here, but there is no such thing as god. can anyone prove it to me if there is?

if i would have that much acne like those who need roaccutane or accutane or whatever i wouldn't hesitate to start using it directly.
to have that much acne aint healthy, cause your social life will be like zero cause you dont wanna show yourself. at least mine would be.
what's the point with being healthy when you instead are so afraid of showing yourself that you don't wanna do anything?
also, its a very little part of those using that medicine that get those sideeffects, except for dry skin, but hey just use some shit for that. after a while your skin will be pretty much perfect.
ance won't always go away on it's own, and sometimes if you don't do anything bout it there will be scars, and scars are fucking expensive to get rid of, if it's even possible. |
Well if someone had SEVERE acne... I mean _really_ bad I could understand the use... but come on, its not the end of the world. I certainly had it quite bad (I could honestly say I'd never seen anyone in person who had it worse than I) but I still had a great social life. Really, guys, when you see another guy with acne do you say to yourself "man that dudes got it rough.... Id rather not hang out with him" ? Probably not, unless your a complete asshole, at which point you wouldnt really be much of a friend to anyone anyways. Girls can be trickier but really, if your wearing clean clothes, are showered, and not looking/smelling like a grunge then your chances increase 1000%. Confidence is the key really... would you be interested in someone sulking around trying to hide themselves because of a pubescent problem? Hell, my friends are still talking about how I hooked up with the hottest girl at their school when I went to their homecoming
There are a lot of things you can do naturally that will help it. Acne is literally a bacteria that happens to prefer around the face and neck (and back). Cutting sugar DOES help. Processed sugar causes inflamation in cells of some sort (I cant remember exactly what does, but after reading what I read I swore off sugar forever) which can definately keep acne on the rise. Its NOT a myth. Even if its a myth, it will greatly benefit your long term health. And after swearing off/cutting down on other processed foods like white bread, fast food, sugary cerials, carbohydrates, and stocking up on foods like fish, greens, fruits, etc, youll see a difference. Also take vitamins, things like vitamin C and fiber (a lot of adverse health effects, including acne, can be caused by gunked up intestines and shit, as horrible as that sounds). Green tea is also great, it has one of the most powerful anti-oxidants ever found.
Oh well. If you want drugs, at least save them for an absolute last resort. I hti up Google for "Accutane side effects." Heres what I got from the first result, which is a webpage devoted to fighting lawsuits for those who have been seriously harmed by Accutane:
*Suicidal Behavior
*Birth Defects
*Ulcerative Colitis
*Crohn's Disease
*Inflammatory Bowel Disorder
*Rectal Bleeding
*Abdominal Pain
*Central Nervous System Injuries
*Bone and Muscle Loss
*Cardiovascular Injuries
*Liver and Kidney Damage
*Pancreatitis
*Immune System Disorder
*Lupus
*Hearing and Vision Damage
*Thyroid Disorders
There have been more than 100 reports of people on Accutane committing suicide, who were otherwise psychology fit prior to use. However, doctors beleive 100 is simply the number reported to them, and that over 1000 could be out there. So consider that before you consider taking it.

& about the suicide, roaccutane takes a shitlong time to work, people don't see the results straight away and get emotional that its not working, life is over and shit like that, roaccutane actually makes it worse for the first 2/3 months but thats cause its killing bacteria by the truckload.
So dun gimme that crap about suicidal tendencies... its just people's inabilities to have control over their own emotions.
:P

ac****ane is definitely my recommandation.
i used it when a bit over 2 years ago and it got rid of all my acne, i used to have them pretty bad on my upper back and big suckers on my face. now they're all gone. i used it as directed for the 6 months (or was it 3?) and experience no side effects except for dry lips. other then that it was completely fine. My father's insurance covered it so you may want to look into it. to me it seemed like the miracle cure, i wish i had taken it earlier in my teen years.

have a good friend with lupus... but as i know the disease is a hereditary and no roacutane can cause it...

Yes, they definitely can be caused by stress. Worrying about that college homecoming won't help your situation either--invest in Clean 'n Clear--it's a great cleanser--cheap too. DON'T put regular soap on your face--it'll just dry it out and make pimples even more visible.
Watch what you eat too--just until homecoming's over if you want, but the more oily fatty foods you eat, (and chocolate too) will all contribute to zits.
Take it from the Zit Queen. I know.

can someone explain to me the thing about not using soap? if i am not supposed to wash my face with saop, what should i use? normally i stick to clean and clear microbead face wash. is that ok? what else is good?

Well i thinkg cause of the pH is too hars for ur skin, therefore will dry it like hell, always use moisturiser otherwise ur skin is dry like hell.
Soap has oil? hmmm i dunno about that one...

Doesn't matter what you eat, folks, it's usually stress more than anything else! |
It has to do with excretions of your skin/pores. Its not an old wives tale.

yeah... i always look better tan. it's a shame since normally i am like the whitest person around.
Posted by JMF [TrAcId] on Oct-10-2003 22:07:
i've been told by my dermatologist that tanning doesn't help get rid of spots and pimples in the long run, you'll still have the problem, it's like a short term fix, and it is of course bad for you skin.
and all the talk in this thread has made me take a good look at my skin, i think the scary ass roaccutane did work, and i just had a bit of an attack the first couple of weeks after taking it where i got a few otbreaks, cos my skin is a lot clearer than it's been in a while, and i have no spots on my back anymore, except for a few pink/red marks of old spots...
