okay. i will get off the salary thing. but my point is... this year, the series is split 9 - 8. with the 9 being yankees. VERY close. and there were many games when the sox just turned it on HARD against NY. eventually, the odds are that boston will win the world series. and this year is a definite possibility. all of the players are having career years. now, if indeed they do win the whole thing, i think they have NO shot at next year. but anyway... i say the series will go to 7. who will win the 7th game, no one knows. i just hope that it's the team from new england. and bitchboy (haha, thats funny) everytime i argue with most yankee fans they bring up stupid points that mean nothing. and they also never answer or mention when i bring up a great point. ie: highmay being happy the yanks are facing the sox and not the a's because it will be easier. i just dont understand how anyone can think that when the a's are missing 2 of their 3 best pitchers. it's obvious that the a's wouldve been ripe for the picking because Zito cant pitch all 7 games. only thing the yanks have going is experience (which means nothing, imo. florida in '97 and diamondbacks in '01) and the fact that the red sox do not have Damon. interesting to note is that, combined, the cubs and the red sox havent won a WS in 182 years.

My predictions for the sweep:

Game 1 - 11:2
Game 2 - 8:1
Game 3 - 9:3
Game 4 - 7:0

Yankees sweep the series and run over the Red Sox...

WS predictions:

Game 1 - 5:2
Game 2 - 2:4
Game 3 - 6:1
Game 4 - 6:5
Game 5 - 3:7
Game 6 - 7:4

Yankees win in 6 - MVP = Bernie or Jeter

ummm, thats the STUPIDEST thing ive ever read. dude... you dont even know who, if the yankees make it to the series, they will be playing. how can you make predictions like that. yankee fans...

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-08-2003 04:15:

and damn it! the cubs lost. such a good game though. back and forth the whole time. well... at least that was Florida's ace and only the Cubbies #3 guy. tomorrow = Prior and then game three will be Wood. w00t w00t. but these marlins DO NOT give up. gotta get those pesky 1 & 2 guys out quick.

Posted by Vlad on Oct-08-2003 04:25:

hehe, Cubs suck!

How can I make those predictions, cause Im MISS CLEO, MUAHAHAHAHAH !!!

Lol, dude, face it, the Sox havent gotten to the big show since '86 and havent won since '16, what makes you think time will change, dude, face it, when it comes to the playoffs, the red sox just dont have what it takes... on the other hand, you've got the yankees - Jeter, Bernie, Posada, Petitte, Clemens, Wells, Rivera - these all except Clemens were there for '96, '98, '99, [Clemens included - no Wells] '00, your playing a team with WS/pressure cooking experience. Last time the Sox made it to the ALCS they played the Yanks - the Yanks beat them, and went on to win it all. I do wish though, that Tino, Scotty and Paully were still here. Time to start a new era!

the thing i hate more than anything is when people say 'so and so sucks!' seriously. i am assuming that was a joke. and anyway man... EVERY game is different. just cause the sox havent won doesnt mean they won't this year. statistics like that mean absolutely nothing. like i said, if statistics like that were relevant, than the celtics would be the the best team in basketball. and the cardinals would be the second best. btw, it was 1918. and one more btw, where was all that experience in 2001? see what i mean. that all means SHIT. we all just have to wait and see what happens. and miss cleo, will i ever have a lot of money?

wha? get ur facts straight...boston didn't choke to oakland..oakland choked to boston after being UP 2-0 in the series and losing three straight

anyway i do hope u guys sweep the red cox

Yeah I hear what you're saying. There are quite a few ignorant Yankee fans. Boston actually does have a shot to win this year. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Yankee fan and I would hate to see Boston win, but it's possible the Yanks will lose. This years team is no where near as good a team as the previous years we won the series('96,'98,'00) They're inconsistent and make stupid mistakes. I still think that they will pull this off, especially because it'e Clemens' last year. How phat would it be for him to at least appear in a World Series in his final Year???

well... the fact that they were playing THE TWINS (!!!!) may have helped. if the yankees team is so great this year then how did they even lose that first game? and you expect to sweep the sox. i dont know... i just wish more people were fans of baseball AND their team... and not just their team. maybe its because you guys are spoiled and im not. my mets have sucked HARD the past two years. so im used to losing. thank god it seems like we're starting to turn it around. if jose reyes puts up the #'s he is likely to put up (in only 274 at bats, he had 4 triples and batted .307) we have the cornerstone of the franchise. i pray!

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-08-2003 14:14:

on a complete sidenote, but still on the subject of baseball...

look at vladimir guerrero's numbers this season:

GAMES: 112
AT BATS: 394
RUNS: 71
HITS: 130
DOUBLES: 20
TRIPLES: 3
HOME RUNS: 25
RBI: 79

now, consider if he had had the extra 50 games! i've been saying it for the past 4 years, we're looking at the next GREAT baseball player right there. and half of these games were played AFTER the herniated disc in his back! the guy is incredible. not to mention his CANNON for an arm. in the words of Stuart Scott: "He's a mutant!!"

and besides him, albert pujols is just goin to be INSANE! but i'm more partial to vlad the impaler.

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! no sweep!! HAHHAHAH!!
damn! was i right about ortiz and manny or what?!?! they are getting hot at the right time people, sox in 6!

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-09-2003 03:50:

*ahem*

if i'm not mistaken... the red sox just beat the yankees 5 - 2. AND the cubbies MANGLED the marlins. good day in baseball pour moi.

Posted by Vlad on Oct-09-2003 04:05:

I love how red sox fans think they will win. Its just histerical, my predictions were off - oh well , sue me. But the sox wont win anymore. You've got Petitte, Clemens, and Wells up, those 3 pitchers dont like to loose in the playoffs and they wont. Consider the series 3-1. Btw, I thought people would have realized by now, Mussina isnt that good, so take it easy red sox fans, its nice to hope, but heres a reality check... Yankees win 29th WS.

okay... first of all... 26 championships. dont get ahead of yourself. secondly, i am not getting excited. i am just happy. third, NO ONE likes to lose in the playoffs, or ever. fourth, mussina is a great pitcher, what are you talking about? and finally, did you forget that the red sox have a pitcher named Pedro? we'll just have to wait and see, but one thing is for sure... the yankees won't be winning their 29th WS... not yet at least.

Posted by Vlad on Oct-09-2003 04:37:

Pedro, Pedro, Pedro, its nice to have a 1 dimenstion pitching rotation.... Pedro is all they have - dont even start with Lowe, he sucks, he needs to go back to closing - Ugh, Wakefield and his knuckleball, hard to hit but you know its coming. Secondly, Mussina isnt that good.. he becomes incredibly predicatable and easy to hit. Thirdly, yea I know I fuxed up, 27th WS.

Posted by variableS on Oct-09-2003 17:47:

LOL... Wakefield was supposed to be the weak part of the rotation for the Sox... and yet he shuts the Yanks down. Lowe is unbeatable at home, and Pedro is a monster at Yankee Stadium (1.39 ERA this season, 2.51 over 4 years), so 3-0 Sox is a very good possibility.

something i NEVER do is make sports predictions. they always seem to come back and haunt you. i just really want the sox to win. and if it were cubs v. sox in the series, i dunno who i would even pull for. probably the sox... but i dunno. i would probably just sit and enjoy whatever happened.

Posted by Vlad on Oct-09-2003 21:10:

How do you hit a ball with absolutely no rotation. I was watching the game and was just sitting there and wondering how a ball could be thrown like that. Lowe and Martinez are loosing. kthxbai.

Posted by Shamez214 on Oct-09-2003 21:58:

well, honestly, most major league hitters SHOULD be able to hit a knuckle ball after seeing it for 3 at bats. and notice that Wakefield is 1 of 2 major league starting pitchers that throw knuckles. if it were that effective all the time, EVERYONE would throw knuckle balls. its basically just luck when a knuckleballer pitches well. hmmm... im gonna start practicing knuckle balls. maybe i'll get dope at it and get signed when i'm 35.

ummm... another note. Lowe will be pitching in Yankee stadium and Pedro will be pitching at Fenway. so those stats are irrelevant.

i figured that would happen tonight. but those bats arent asleep. nomar needs to stop popping up.
