WHen people say they have been working on a mix CD, for lets say a week, what does that mean?

Shouldnt you know your records and pull them out 1 after another like a club?

Or is this cheating computer mixing?

Posted by djr-man on Oct-10-2003 03:20:

BChandler You have a point There.. But What I want is to see if the djs have Skillz in Programming a nice set together. U can call it cheating yes that can be done. But for right now we are asking for demos... From a person Tracklist and Programming I can tell a lot. The mixing might not be all perfect really. Also i have been a Bedroom Dj Myself and believe me for almost 2 years i have mixed in my headphones. And it deffenetely wasnt easy... Although all the demos i have done all t he sets I have given out were never done on computer or filtered on Computer. I have always recorded Live... Although to put a Good Promo or should I say Demo together can take a couple of days depending how much free time you have... We have recieved more than 20 Demos already Some are great some are not good at all. The point of this is to see who tries the hardest and who has it in them who doesnt. And whoever Does have it (tallent) will be on the team and I Can Assure them that they will get a lot of Exposure Online and that would mean Gigs and other goodies. Even Cd releases. So Whoever things they got what it takes to be a good dj This is for them.

Thanks to all the Participants. And always remember Practice Makes Perfect

Mine will most definitely be live. I'm really looking forward to sending mine in once I get it ripped, I'd like to get some feedback and possibly more.

Anyways, thanks for the oppurtunity.

This is a very good thing you're doing. I know what you mean about going to clubs and hearing horrible DJ's, happens to me all the time, and I can only think to myself, "Man, I could blow this guy away." Many don't realize, however, that the other major part of being a successful DJ is going otu and finding the right connections. Hopefully this will get those out there with true talent out of the bedroom.

I'm at that point now, though I don't consider myself a skilled enough dj to send a mix. Do this again in a year or so

Posted by DjLiMZ. on Oct-10-2003 12:58:

Also whens the deadline because im getting a m8 of mine to submit my mix for me seeing as i don't use bb

Posted by DjMorpheus on Oct-10-2003 13:28:

I have a question:

We have recorded a 3 hours long set (a few weeks ago).
Is it possible to cut 1,5 out of it and set it to you, or MUST it be
a whole set? Our 3hours-set is 260 mb, and i only have 16kb/s
upload
I can imagine that it must be a whole set, so you guys can judge the programming better.

In that case we are going to record a set this week.
We will participate because WE think we are ready for it! Now we must convince the rest of the world

RESPECT FOR THE PROJECT!!!!!!!!

Absolutly man, send us what you got. If we like it, we will get you to record a 70 min demo for us later on. Right now we are just asking for a mix so we can review your style and skills. A 3 hour set is fine.

Guys, there is no deadline. This is an on going project. If you dont think you can make the cut just yet, then wait, get your skills up, and send us something.

Mhhz, Software mixing isn't the real thing in my opinion. It's just faking this project. Later on, would you do mix with software too? If the mix is not good, do you say: sorry people, but i can't mix live?
I prefer the real thing. If a mix isn't good, don't bother, keep practising. i admit, if i fuck-up a mix, i'm angry to myself, but that's the way you learn to mix better.

I would post a mix after this weekend. I'm looking forward to get some feedback on our mix (me and a friend).
