I agree with Aya Brea, even tho PVD was very into his set, maybe more than when he spins at roxy, the fact is that it was tough for me to get into it also at Glow, because of way too many fuckin drunk assholes falling into me, and the fact that it was just way too crowded. Plus, Glow's sounds system is terrible. My ears are ringing today so much more than theyd be after a night of roxy or arc. But I did enjoy PVD's set...he did play basically the same set at einslive(cant spell)...but I love that set anyway, so it was great to hear it live...Hey AYa...where u from in LI...ill be at roxy the 14th.

dont worry, none given to me also, unless u wanna count the back seat encounter..

Arturo, please hook me up with last 4 track names Edgar played before PVD.. Please..

I showed up around midnight and saw the huge line. I think everyone had the look of "oh shit" when they saw that. Even the guestlist line was pretty big.. Luckily, I was on the guestlist so I was hoping I wouldn't have to wait in line.. and I didn't. It took about 5 minutes of standing in the guestlist line until a very polite bouncer came up to me and asked how he can help me. I told him that I was on the list, he directed me to another bouncer who gave me a 21+ wristband and a free ticket. I was inside the barricade within minutes.

I think the biggest problem with venues like Glow is that they have so many clubbers to deal with -- especially if Tiesto or PVD are in town. I wouldn't hold anything against them, being a bouncer is a hard job, especially at a huge event like this one. Imagine the stress they are going through.

Posted by Werewolf on Oct-13-2003 02:20:

the bouncers are really retarded !

me and my friend were trying go get signature from PvD, and when we gave our stuff to one of the bouncers, he wanted 20$ so that he would let us...

WTF !

amdmaxx, I know that one of the last 4 edgar played was "GTR - Mistral." I dont remember the others that he played(he did a closer from 5:00-5:45). Then, Pete Moutso put on umek - gatex to end the night.

EDIT:

And, i'm sorry a lot of you had a bad time =(.

I hope that when GLOW moves, it picks a larger venue =/. We'll find out soon enough.

I personally like the crowd at glow(except for the drunk morons *looks at peter* =P, j/k). I was going to buy a vandit shirt, but it wouldn't have come in time. Also, not everyone needs a vandit shirt to appreciate his music. Though, I did think that his repetition of sets is.... interesting....

We'll just have to see how roxy goes. Maybe you guys up north'll be able to kick his inspiration back into him =).

I still think December's set of his at GLOW was better. But this time, I think Edgar V dropped a MUCH better house set. He knows how to lay it down! Next time Edgar V comes to glow, I might just have to stop by =P.

heh.

edgar encored with umek. his playlist was:

thomas datt - 2v2 (original)
haak - frenzy (mks remix)
m.i.k.e. - turn out the lights (original)
st. john vs. locust - mind circles
-i forgot-
-i forgot-
gtr - mistral

encore: umek - gatex (tiesto mix)

omfgggggggggggggggggg 2v2 owned so hard.

Oh, and I DO have to say that when As The Rush Comes came on, I yawned 3 times. It was my only time the whole night that I did it =P. I hope that track dies out.

Posted by Highmay on Oct-13-2003 02:43:

I'd figure I'd join in the obligatory Glowbashing Bandwagon:

ok...I arrive at the club at 20 minutes to 9 to get my tix...well, after 30 minutes of waiting for them to set up, then another hour to let the garage next door empty out from the hockey game next door, we were finally let in...the outside was totally disorganized and borderline chaotic, with no signs or bouncers knowing what exactly was going on...

the sound sucked...did anyone else have ringing in their ear until the end of this afternoon??

my all access pass was pointless (other than to visit the DJ booth of course), since all the VIPs were packed to the gills...

people complaining that the club was hot: well when a club gets packed to capacity, what are you gonna expect?? besides, there were jet engine ACs in the back near the ground floor VIP...

EDGAR V closed...not moutso...

one last note: im already at peace with the fact that the only good thing Glow has going for them is the DJ booth (and the girls are a distant second)...so you guys dislike glow? tell us something we don't know already...you come to terms with Glow's inefficiencies, you make the best out of that party...

now...onto pvd:

other than one missed beatmatch in the middle of his set, i think this was one of the better sets ive heard from him...nobody fucks with PvD when he gets hard...nothing is as beautiful to watch...the last time i recall him being that hard was last november at roxy...last night, he jumped right out the gates with Digital Pressure - Aftershock...dropped Running Up That Hill...and ended with For An Angel...

Posted by Srezic on Oct-13-2003 03:07:

Sorry Highmay, from my view it looked like Moutso mouthed "1 more" and put on a vinyl real fast. Must have been tired =P.

Anyway, I was lucky enough that Reuben found me and gave me some earplugs(thanks a ton!). So I can hear fine today.

But yes, on many levels I agree that Glow is not a great club. I really like the DJ booth, and *most* of the crowd's vibe. But I can't wait to see what the new place will be like(then you guys from all around will have to come back to DC =P(theres your excuse daniela! )

By the way, John and Lindsey, if you read this, I'm still waiting to hear from you. And if any of you happen to know these cool people(from Atlanta) please gimme some contact infos. I dont even remember the TA names. Said they didn't post often, but read a lot.

Heres my review...

The meet-up was fun, interesting. I really didnt say much to anyone else (im sorry) met lunasea and indy when they arrived. my bowl of ramen noodles that i ordered was neverending, it seemed. It was interesting talkin to Tom and Maribel from San fransico. Those guys were really cool and i kept seeing them in the club. So hats off again to peter for getting those reservations.

So after everyone leaves, matt and i stop at a 7-11 and get some red bull then head into DC. And once we get on Constitution Ave we come to a dead halt! bumper to bumper 5mph until we got down to 6th street! and then it took us another half hour of circling glow till we found a spot! Damn MCI center and their "hockey" games! heh heh jk. we finally found some people walking to their car so matt rolled down his window and asked if they were leaving. they said yes so we crawled behind them and they left and we took their spot. as we were pulling in Reuben and Tiffany drove by, they hadnt found a spot yet and were pretty mad.

So we go get our tickets, stay in line for like 5 minutes and we're in the club. It was packed, yes, but I mostly stayed to the back where there was a lot more room, plus the fans there cooled me down a lot. Edgar was playing a pretty progressive set( i couldnt Id any of his tunes) than Paul came on and he pretty much owned the rest of the night.

I didnt have a watch or my cell phone so I have no idea when he started or when he stopped but it seemed like the night flew by. I bumped into Brian and peter and ryan too. It was pretty fun, and apparently when i was dancing i elbowed tiffany in the boob but i didnt notice..so i had to give her a hug. Sorry tiffany!!

I also thought it was pretty funny seeing Arturo walking through the crowd and then the next time i saw him he was up in the DJ booth sipping on a drink

Towards the end i saw some people from the Glow forum there, it was pretty nice talking to them. One funy part is when Brian ran around and showed us the picture he took of this girl whose boob fell out! That was so funny! lol

Well heres my REVIEW OVERALL.. PvD was great, i expected nothing but the best from him and he delivered.. His mixing was impeccable and he knows how to get the crowd dancing. But heres why i wasnt too impressed. Basically we all know Glows sound system sucks. (my ears are still ringing) that we know.. that made it a little horrible but my whole thing about last night was that Ive been reading all the reviews of Paul van Dyk at other places and i read the Tracklist and say "man itd be cool when i hear some of these songs when he plays glow" Well the thing is is that i felt like i predicted his set. Like i told matt that he will play crush, ATRC, TOOL, Nothing but you and aftershokk.. and he did. I mean i had fun listening to and singing along to all his tracks..but I felt that he's playing the same set wherever he goes. I wanted some more variation or surprises thrown in.

I agree with everyone that said that PVD in December was better..coz i think bak then his set wasnt so predictable.

But other than that I had a great time dancing and meeting everyone. Sorry to anyone i may have forgotten. Lets get some of those pics posted!

Posted by Mebot on Oct-13-2003 04:06:

oh yeah Daffodil ! where were u ! i was all over glow, makin people mad stepping on their feet trying to look for you.. oh well maybe next time.

Which reminds too i almost got in a fight with some guy too lol. i was dancing and he was mad coz i kept bumpin into him. Shit man if you just stand in the crowd ur asking to be bumped into ffs! he kept eyeballin me but i ignored him. fucking tard.

ok sorry end of rant

Frank (gqntrance) was in line when this happend and seen it all.

arrrgh! I just got off a 9 hour shift and have espresso burns on my hands!

anyhow...
I really enjoyed the meetup @ Cafe Asia. I am proud to say that it was the best turnout for a dc-area TA meetup to date, saw lots of new faces and friends there, and had a great time. Hope to see more meetups like this in DC in the future

I left my house around 10:20pm for glow...didn't realize that DC was in one giant state of gridlock at that time...took me about 45 goddamn minutes to get to Glow through rediculous traffic on Constitution Ave...jeesus, I didnt think we had that many goddamn hockey fans around here...
then it took me another 45 fucking minutes driving around a 4 block radius of Glow to find parking. I managed to get inside Glow a little after 12, and I think that's only cause I work there and didn't have to get a ticket/wait.

Now as for Glow...I think it was even MORE packed than it was last time for PVD...this was fucking rediculous.
way way way way way too fucking crowded, made the whole thing unenjoyable...no matter how brilliant his set is, it is hard to have a fun time when your feet are getting stepped on, you are geting elbowed in the head/stomach, and some kind of liquid (god I hope it was water) keeps dripping on your fucking head every goddamn second!!!!!
PvD came on at about 1:40am, played till about 5:10am.
I love Paul's set, I thought it was fantastic, sure he played a lot the same songs he's been playing in the past 2 months, but let's face it...thats what DJ's do when they are on a promotional tour. And if we all weren't such huge PvD freaks who download all his sets and watch his tracklists and stuff, this set woulda been pretty breathtaking!
SO yeah, I thought his set was off the hook...but the whole experience as a whole sucked balls...
just once I wish I could see PvD in a setting that is not like that...*sigh*
I felt like a damn chicken in a crate stuffed in with 20 other chickens that you see go past you on a truck on the highway..

ok well, I'm rambling. Great seeing everybody, Edgar V's set was nice, and lets all pray that Glow moves to a new venue SOON!
im out

here's my review:

The meetup turned out very nicely and it was great to see everyone again as well as new friends. I think turnout was somewhere around 25 ppl. The sushi I had was good and perhaps next time we will have another meetup there.

Besides the horrendous traffic jam getting to Glow and the non existing "VIP" line, I had a great time. Edgar V was literally tearing the place up and the stereo system was bangin his set. I have to admit, after listening to PVD's set, I wasn't really into it since it was pretty predictable, and personally, hes way too shy of a dj for me. But i still had a great time.

Sunday, I spent half the day recovering thanks to kimmi for the 2 shots of tequilla and double shot of 151. HAHAHAHAH

hope everyone had a safe trip home!

Hello!

Well I had no problem getting in since me and Brian where tha first ones in ther (Thanks Vtec Junkie)

Well as for the night ,I finally got to see you kool people from TA . Hey Peter, Indy and all you ther guys (Sorry If I don't Remeber your name)Well as for the the rest of the night Dan Sampson really rocked it for the opening ,plus he was chilling in the crowd (Awesome for him to do that) Well I as for Edger V ,he set was not as bad as I thought it was gonna be, but that Mobica nd Missy remix was fantastic. Yeah it got crowd at the end of his set. I saw some of you TA's like 3-5 each hour lol. Yeah but it went bonkers when PVD cameout.

I couldn't move anymore and it was my first time I had trouble smoking my Black N Milds. People kept stepping on my shoes and getting drinks to some struggling since I kept getting into peoples way. But what do you expect from a place that small. Some people had no reason being there. If you are a PVD fan or your in trance then kool, But not get the fuck out.Well I didn't mind hearing those tracks 2 time again since the first I was getting drinks and using the bathroom.Well PVD was awesome ,since I just got into PVD this year. So his set was fair enough and it was a Promotional Tour so that was kool (he did fuck up in the middle but hey hes only human).

Now I am sorry for out of Towners. I wish you could have a great time. Now when Tiesto was ther it was packed but you had room to dance and there was true fans and it was my best day of my life. Well it was Excellent night with some minors problems

Hope to see you TA people again at Tiesto in November

Posted by DJslantzz on Oct-13-2003 05:21:

Can anyone ID the track that Edgar V played probably the later parts of the set with the nice female vocals???

Posted by intelligent77 on Oct-13-2003 05:23:

K now i'm a little tired...hehe 1:30 and we're still dancing.. I had about 3 separate groups of friends meeting up there.. ben & mo crew... ta's.. and personal friends... so it was totally great to just be all over and always be surrounded by friends!!

Thanks peter for the work you put into the meetup.. appreciate it!!.. Yum Nur.. dude that tai food hit the spot!!... it was great meeting everyone...always nice to know you have people to chill with when you walk into a club!!

Glow as a venue sucks..we know this.. so i have no real grips cuz i knew that it would be like that..

It only took us 20min to make it up there but thanks to friends up by the stage.. we were right in front of Paul when he first stepped on...

But as one of my friends quoted.. the begining was great.. but the middle of his set had something to be desired for.. i found it predictable..

I wanted to dance.. tooo packed .. nations would be sooo much better for this.. we were back by the bar for awhile.. infact i was very excited when Edgar V came back on at the end of the night and people were leaving.. cuz yeah.. i got to keep dancing.. and wait.. have room to do so...

to my peeps.. bunny girl again., your dancing completes me.. eddie.. dude your styl ROCKS!!... BR.. ALWAYS your biggest fan! kisses... Glittergrl - girl thanks a million!!... beema we always give you a shout out... mario - dude awesome to meet you!... ben & mo crew.. i know you dudes are reading this.. HAHAHA.... LUV YOU!! Dwayne... dude you rock! thanks for everything.. see you all next week for Deep Dish.. YEAH!

Worm Popper

Oh Yeah and a few things Big ups to Edgar V for his second set at the end of the night, I might just go to Glow from now on for him.Damn those Glow speakers, I never fucked my ears uo like this before, such a small place doesn't need these shit that loud. And for real I honestly for bad, for you out of towners,if anything you great people should have deserve better. Well try to be here for Tiesto in November 1st if you can make it.It wasn't crownd the first time but it might be crownd the second time just like PVD's second time.

Posted by Ekstasis on Oct-13-2003 05:52:

The male vocal he played twice is by a German synthpop group called Wolfsheim (http://www.wolfsheim.de) The track is called Wundervoll and I believe Blank & Jones did the mix he played last night.

Peter Heppner does the vocals for the group. Same guy as the Shiller mit Heppner tracks.

I'm not 100% sure. I was off by the bar when he played it, but it was Heppners voice, and this is their newest track so...
