This is sheer quality.

I don't understand why people are saying it's not necessarily good that it sounds 'icone-ish'. Isn't that a sweet thing when people start recognizing your sound? You can pick a Scot Project, SHOKK, or PVD track out from awhile away but you don't hear too many folks saying it's the same old sound...although with Scot Project I dunno
True enough people have to add new thing to expand their sound, and I think as someone mentioned that's what happening with Icone tracks..so all in all, nice job. This tune is total pro and very well done.

Wim,

Whatever u do, DO NOT lose this sound that u have made...

Its a sound that uve worked hard on and it really does work, the right blend of energy, power, emotion etc..

Just because some individuals are tired of the 'icone sound' is no reason to change

Music for the masses mate, not the individuals and i can safely say that there are a lot more ppl happy with the sound u have and not tired of it

Its only a matter of time before a number of your tracks are picked up by the big players on the trance scene.

thx for the confidence Bryan, I wil always stick to Icone no matter what. sometimes you just have these days where you start asking yourself every single little thing i suppose...

if it'd be a different style, i'd use a different alias for sure.

laterz,
Wim

PS: pm me if you'd want cd-r with my latest stuff to use

I can't disagree.. sorry...

Your sound quality has improved and so has the dynamics of your structures... but you need to think outside the square.. sorry..

nice track snippet btw

You're welcome to say what you want mate

Please tell me what's wrong with the square synth? I heard someone else say they were 'underused' in trance - it gave me this idea.

I can totally understand some who say the Icone sound may be getting old, I've thought the same thing about some other professional artists.

But my personal opinion, is the "Icone sound" is probably my favorite on these forums. If you experiment under different aliases, that would be wonderful. But please please Wim, don't stray from your current sound. I'm absolutely floored by all of your tracks. It's honestly damn near perfect according to the trance I like to hear. Uplifting, yet a powerful underlying melody.

The sample is such a tease, the break sounds great, but I'm anxious to hear the entire track. Keep up the great work Wim, and always do what you want to do, not what you think people will like.

That wasn't my point, actually, I just elaborated it badly.

As I told Wim in PM, all artists should have some kind of a style. But you must also be able to update that style and bring variation to the game. You can sound different and the same at the same time, although it might not always be easy.

Edit:
But like I said to Wim earlier - he shouldn't change his style just because I want to because after all it's just an opinion of one man.

So true though, but of coures there's that universal problem -

Choice. Maybe he doesn't wanna change? Well, you are entitled to your opinion Mr.Mystery, which I can't disagree with, since I dont' find a change in Lightworks style, but overall, like I said in my posts earlier, I don't think he should change. Some harsh words said by other posters, and I'm glad he's not as sensitive as Eugene.

If it were Eugene, he would've cussed out 15 people by now! LOL! So funny, how i bring him up when you come around. By the way, I find it hilarious. (But I know your not the reason why he left. He himself is the reason ) -Mental

I don't find it funny at all. What does it have to do with me?

Sorry man - I'm a bit light-hearted around here. Just trying to slip little jokes here, but I guess that's not your kinda vibe, since the joke was not even funny to you, or your taste.

I was referring to an old thread, months ago - that is all.

Enough about the past - about the present/future.

I'm glad you elaborated Mr.Mystery, cuz your first post about Icones sound being dated (although I cannot argue) wasn't enough to justify whether the song was good or not because a one setence reply, or opinion does not explain enough. However, you chose to retort wisely, and I guess you can say that comment was not unreasonable.

You have a good day sir - don't wanna disturb a nest of hornets for a little misunderstanding. -Mental

I agree to this, i like your sound, but maybe im just getting bored of it quicker than most cause i listen to ur productions allllllll the time.. hahaha...

Posted by Etherium on Oct-19-2003 06:05:

Well, my 2 cents is that I love the Icone sound. I think if 5 years down the line if the tracks sound the same, then sure, the Icone sound will be overdone, but not now.

Producing is self-expression, asking someone to change their productions is like asking someone to change their personality, it doesn't happen immediately, it takes time. This is why I'll never produce hard trance or house, it wouldn't express me.

Stick with your poetic Iconish style, Light, until you feel it's time to move on.

Posted by euphoria attack on Oct-19-2003 07:12:

hm. imho its nice. i'm not sure what it is but something seems to be lacking at least to my ear but then again i am a picky listener. good job.

Posted by Icone on Oct-19-2003 09:14:

bassaholix :: no problem man, if you think it's that way, then it is that way for you. i can't disagree with your opinion or i wouldn't be asking for it

etherium :: thanks mate! i'm sure it'll take time... i've produced some hard trance and chill-style trance, but all under different aliases. if i have enough inspiration, i'll give those one a shot again.

euphoria attack :: i'm glad you like it! if you can, please tell me what's missing, even if you're being picky

Wim - you already know what I think of this remix. I love it so much - everything seems perfect I love when the beat kicks back in after the breakdown.

(The re-recorded vocals are coming! Just trying to get organized in the studio. This week for sure. )
