So? I've been here 17 odd years and I've never been into the casino once.

Yeah 4 seasons minimum. In Melbourne during the winter especially you've gotta wear layers so you can take em off and put em back on as the weather changes!
Hopefully this Summer will be a good one (After getting jibbed for the last two summer's!) - we've had a few promising days this spring already so fingers crossed!

representative of the melbourne attitude? bahaha
Alccode if it's a laid back lifestyle you're after then Melb is the place to be. Your main priority is study so the the lifestyle will suit that. Seeing as you're only planning a year, that should be alright for you.
Personally I couldn't live there for long (unless I was retired). Can't stand the rail system (serious upgrade required), and not the easiest state to travel around (due to size and proximity). Props to freeways down there though, so much space = better driving room
If it's fast paced you want - then sydney will keep you on your toes.

hehe that's so true.......us canberrans are the most spoiled ones in the country when it comes to roads tho.....mmmmm so much space - it's not always a good thing tho, cos it makes it so hard to drive anywhere else *lol* i used to be so afraid of drivin in sydney - couldn't bring myself to try - i used to always stop at the end of the highway on King George's Road, call a friend, and they'd come meet me there and drive my car into the city *lol* i had a baptism of fire tho - friend told me i could just stay in the tunnel to get to her place, but i accidentally took an exit..found myself in the middle of the city in peak-hour traffic on a friday afternoon in blinding rain, with one hand on the wheel and one hand on my fone tryin to get directions (yeah yeah, bad me) - that's what taught me that it's possible to drive in sydney after all *lol* i still hate it tho - how can u guys stand feelin like ur gonna sideswipe sumbody every time u drive?? it's so scarey
i love my 500m wide Cbr roads
/me hands thread back after her diversion....
