anyway, as much as i love american football, i fail to understand why it is called that so i gave up on trying to figure it out.

i like soccer too but it just isnt big here so it is hard to follow. but i must say soccer players have the nicest asses.

i am kind of interested in learning the rules to rugby but they never play it on tv here anyway so there isnt much point.

if americans cared at all about football (soccer) they'd probably do damn well. However, the major sports in America are generally american football, basketball and baseball (i find this boring myself) atheletes in America are going to concentrate on these sports. Also you make much more money in America playing either american football, basketball or football, not soccer.

so who played american football here?

i played in footbal in highschool, i was a fullback/linebacker.

it seems like to me that it actually hurts more to play football with the pads on then it does without the pads. If you have played football (american) before with pads please comment on this.

i very often fail to see the athletic value in baseball. but baseball players are generally hot so i dont mind it's dominating presence in this country.

i agree baseball is pretty pathetic... there is basicly no startegy to the game, everyone knows what to do in each situation. the only thing that is a variable is how good a pitcher is and the reaction time of a batter.

But anyways, ya i've played football with full gear. When i lived in Canada for a year during my 12th grade (halifax) i made it to their football team as defensive back. even though i was a rookie i got good game time cause I was a senior, we ended up winning provincial championship. I played a lot in israel too, tackle football no-pads and in my opinion the more pads you have on, the less bruises you get.

There is underlying strategy in every sport, not just the ones you enjoy.

It sure would make the World Cup more interesting if the USA did get football more popular than it is, and it is happening, but only with women. Womens football is massive and they're really good (one of the best nations in the world).

Unfortunetly, the increase of another top sport into American society will not happen...why...well, they hosted the world Cup in '94 and it maybe gave it a little "bump" but nothing to spectacular. Then last year USA were actually in the World Cup 2002 and reporters were asking people what great day it is..and people had no clue, apart from an odd one.

people would rather bore themselves watching baseball, which is just an excuse to sit on a chair and eat hotdogs and pretzells for about 5 hours whilst watching and cheering every 5 mins lol

American football is a pussys game of rugby, just look the Rugby World cup, Scotland beat them today and they were dissapointed in their final points coz it wernt really enough lol,

basketball on the other is a sport that i actually dont mind playing or watching, and i can see the fascination in supporting a basketball team, same goes with Ice Hockey, though i do wonder how the hell u follow the puck lol.

Also why do u ppl call it the world series? its only bloody usa who enters it? that makes no sense lol

Anyway, football players i know have been John Harkes (shit shit shit player from about 10 years ago lol), Coby Jones i like his hair doo, Claudio Rayner...he actually is not bad and he's playing not too bad as Man City climb the table, and as ^Ian mentioned, Kacie Keller (spl).

Oh also, Japan play baseball nd im sure they beat the national USA team.

I wish though they would play football, it would do their supporters a world of good for understanding geography of the worlds nations.

It is sort of misleading, but it's because the best players around the world are in the MLB. This includes Japan, Latin America and North America.

you talk about how boring sports like baseball and football are...you know why no one here likes soccer? because soccer is a complete joke to watch on TV...i mean there's fucking 20 guys on the field and ALL they do is kick the ball back and forth back and forth for 3 hours, the ball usually staying at midfield...and how many total goals are scored each game? like...3? so yeah...you guys can enjoy ur bloody soccer while i'll enjoy my bloody "american football", baseball and basketball

american football probably is a pussy version of rugby...do i really care what you think it is? american football is by far the number one sport and i love it to death, just like europeans or whatever love their soccer

the MLB championships is called the world series because people from all over the world are playing on the teams right now in the world series like the dominican republic, cuba, japan, korea, central america, etc although the teams AREN'T from different parts of the world

and DON'T you call baseball a boring excuse to sit in the stands and eat pretzels and hotdogs and cheer for 5 minutes...obviously thats just coming from a person like you who doesn't understand the sport...baseball isn't called america's pasttime for no reason

you're telling me fielding the ball when you have to dive for your right, pick it up cleanly and throw it to first base doesn't take athleticism? Or having to catch a flyball on the run? or even having to dive for it doesn't take any athleticism? gimme a break

We all know the players aren't drafted or famed for their out fielding skills, but rather batting averages and # of home runs. I'd say almost all of the baseball players in the MLB are equivelently skilled at 'cathcing a ball'. Everyone can make that spectacular jumping catch or is prone to drop a ball.

Few things here, there are 22 players on the pitch, rather than 20. A match is also only 1 1/2 hours long, rather than 3. It's not just us that enjoy football, its played all over the world and is the most popular sport in dozens of countries. Barely anyone plays american football though... thats because its just like rugby (which is popular in many countries) with breaks every 10 seconds and stupid ammounds of padding.

How is american football by far the number 1 sport? Its not played or watched by the most people so how can it be the number 1?

Football is played all over, not just in europe

I'm sure there are players from a far greater range of players from different countries playing in the english football premiership... yet this isn't called the world series.

Baseball is incredibly boring IMO, but i dont hate it because people just go there to eat. We play a sport, cricket, (baseball was based on it), matches last 5 days of 8 hours or so.. so people do go to sit around and drink beer and eat or whatever. Cricket i'm pretty sure is probanly more popular than baseball. It's one of the most popular sports in India which has 1billion people living in it, its also very popular in Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, England & the Carribean. There are many other countries playing it but just not at a high level.

are you fucking kidding me? if you knew anything about baseball at all...players aren't drafted just for their hitting but for their DEFENSE...if you read scouting reports on potential draftees they always talk about their defensive abilities whether they are good or not...you think that playing defense is not in important in baseball? not everyone can make the spectacular play...have u even watched baseball? if u did you would know some players are better defensively than others...thats what gold gloves are for...why would barry bonds win 8 straight gold gloves when you think everyone is equally defensively? so should everyone in the league be winning gold gloves? end of discussion...my god if you're gonna bash bsaeball is at least know what you're talking about...

Even though Americans are crap at soccer (football) you seem to have forgotten that the best keeper in the premiership (in most peoples views) at the moment is an American, ie Brad Friedel.
