ahh, Babylon *lol* i dunno if u'd call it 'good'...but it's not bad....it's umm, 'interesting'...hehehe

it's a small club, with 2 rooms - i think capacity is about 1200 (tho i can't quite imagine it bein able to hold that many) - it's very intimate, and gives u that 'up close and personal' dj experience, which i think is a good thing - it's not often u'd get to see Tiesto in that kinda environment!! the dancefloor is pretty small, and u'll get a laff outta the 2 huge cages on it - one rite next to the dj booth - i could be wrong, but i think at some point in time it may have been a strip club - it def has that kinda feel about it *lol* ask helen about the cages - she went nuts in em at cbr halcyon!!

i'm glad he's gonna be playin a small club here.......i like seein what a dj can do when they're away from the huge events and the enormous crowds but hey, i don't particularly care where he's playin here anyway - hell, i'd go see him play at a rubbish dump if i had to

Strip Club? WTF kinda drugs you on lmao...the club's in civic not fyshwick...

The club's half decent, and the sound when EQ'd properly is pretty good....but at the moment it's not...I hope enough people voice concern over it for them to get someone in before tiesto who knows what they're doing...

word on the street, well in another post, is that tijs is playing on boxing day @ Australian National University? confirm or deny.

I can neither confirm nor deny, but if he is, I'll be pretty damn pissed! Gotta work that night :|

I hope its boxing day, because i will SOOOO be there!!!

was looking forward to the boxing day gig. I'll probably still make the journey on christmas eve, but then have to think about not going too hard, leaving early, and other things that detract greatly from a good night out. I was at a party last christmas eve, but that was in bondi and was full of backpackers with no family duties the next day. I can't see anywhere in canberra having that kind of attendance that night.
on the plus side, not being at ANU is a good thing

Anyone seen Scarface, the movie that made Al Pacino famous? The nightclub in it was called Babylon and they tried to design it similar, hence the cages etc and the gangster/strip club feel which i fully agree on with Alli.

I can confirm that the date will NOT be boxing day, but Dec 24 as first announced.

I can't confirm the venue yet though, the people behind it are still looking at their options, but I'll let you all know as soon as I hear anything solid.

Tiesto canberra update:

Date still Dec 24
Venue still to be confirmed, promoters are looking at getting a larger venue than Babylon nightclub.
First confirmed supports are Liquid M (syd)
Round 1 Tix will be $35(!!!)
Not on sale yet so can't tell you where to get them from....

Will update when more info comes to hand.

very happy bout that......very NOT happy bout inter-staters gettin to support Tiesto here in cbr - we have more than enuff talent here to provide mighty fine support....Gav, would much rather see u support than Liquid M (don't get me wrong, i've got nuthin against Liquid M....I just feel this special gig should have Cbr support acts, not inter-staters....dunno what's up with these stoopid promoters!!)

I sure hope his site is right as well. $35 is an absolute bargain to see Tiesto so I would really hate to miss out! Congrats to Mike and Marlo for getting on the lineup, its great to see them getting such awesome gigs

The dat is absolutely, 100% Xmas eve guys...sorry to be the bearer of bad news, I know this makes the gig impossible for alot of people that were keen to come down.

As for the venue...it will be announced soon...sorry to be a prick tease, but I know where it's been moved to and I can't say I'm happy about it. Unfortunately the legal capacity of the original venue is only 250, and since the event is having pre-sold tickets avaliable that number is just too small for the event to be legally viable, tickets would be up near the $90 dollar mark for the promoters to have any hope of come close to breaking even. The venue it's been moved to has a capacity of 660, but that's the only better thing about it in my opinion...You won't be able to get as close to Tiesto as you would have at Babylon, but he'll still be right there in front of you, I suspect there'll be alot of hands reaching up for a handshake all through the set, and you'll be able to talk to him after the set I imagine as he can't just sort of run away through a back door or something...think of the setup @ Gas and you're pretty close.

Back to tickets...yes, 1st release are $35. They *may* start going on salenear the end of this week. 1st release will be VERY limited as you can imagine at that price, and will be avaliable through the club, so I'm not sure how interstate people will be able to secure them, however I will post contact details for the venue when it can be announced.

And yea, I would have loved to support Tiesto but let's be realistic...probably the biggest name in Trance today, possibly even dance music itself, I've been mixing since January and have not yet supported an international. If I got down on myself for not supporting I think it'd be pretty narcissistic for assuming I would get the offer in the first place...I can honestly say I wanted it more than anything in the world though But I'll still be front and centre going nuts though, my god playing in my home city is still something I can't get my head around!
