Nice Thread
Well I started listening to trance probably when I started clubbing + listening to it on the net.......
There arent many good radio stations in chicago....just one...that also it plays commericial junk..I doubt any one might like trance cos of it
Fav Song of the Moment :Sunscreen vs Push->please save me
yeah like others said, i always love children and born slippy but i thought it was "all techno."
i guess about 2 yrs ago when i stumbled upon a USED copy of Trance Nation mixed by System F (ferry corsten)
that lit the fire.
and people cant say 9pm - till i come is cheese, or bad or wahtever, just because its been played 5 billion times more than it should have. like HTFR says, it IS the "biggest, best trance"
it personifies it.
not atb, just that one track.
and its drawn who knows HOW MANY ppl. including myself, to trance.
I used to be into techno a long, long time ago (early 90s...even late 80s?) NJOY was one of my favorite bands at that moment (mindflux was a great tune!). Then it got really cheezy thanks to that song *James Brown is Dead* and I kept away from the electronica genre for a long time.
Years later (still along time ago...I'm an old fart
), I heard PvD's For an Angel from a friend's bootleg CD. I was once again hooked on electronica and ultimately became a TRANCEADDICT!
FOR AN ANGEL
I went to my sister's friend's bbq 3 years ago and i heard the track Blank & Jones - Cream (Paul Van Dyk Mix) and immediatly fell in love with trance. I went out and bought 3 Micro CD's to find that song but suprisingly found that i liked all of the tracks on the cds. Micro is my one of my favorite dj's and i'll never get tired of Cream because i remember that song alone got me to love trance.
hmm surprised to see this thread again, but I havent answered yet so heres my story.
I always like Halycon on and on, and Fire(scooter) but the mortal Kombat CD is about what my exposure was. then I started to like ATB and other 'cheese'. Then last summer I was @ a house party that was 4 days straight. Man that was nuts. The sound system we had pumpin was great...fogger, lights the whole deal(its @ my house this year) So we pop a CD in and It was PvD live @ the gallery Turnmills. I fell in love...I spent afternoon in the basement by myself listening to it. Next day I went and blew a wad on some crap 'this is trance' CDs, but it got me started...Now im spinning my own!!!
Hmmm....
Late night MTV had what they called "Liquid TV". It featured oddball cartoons and unusual stuff. Liquid TV kinda split into 2 different shows. MTV's Amp and the other show.
MTV'S Amp being all techno music. They showed music video's of early stuff like DHS - House of God, FSOL - Papua New Guinea. I was hooked. I started lookin for the artists and remembering their names, going to the record store, looking for anything I might be able to find.
Also, the video game Wipeout had a lot of techno music on it. I just followed the names of the artists and went from there.
I think the first album I bought that I really remember was MTV's Amp Compilation.

I just looked at the artist's and looked further. But that one CD was solely responsible for me being totally hooked to techno music. It was the seed.
Underworld and Orbital, not really trance but it opened the door.
