Once I was 4 days without eating ANYTHING. just water, after the 2nd day I could have some tea (no sugar).
5th day I could eat ONE fat-free cracker every 2 hours.
6th day: some rice no butter (a bit of oil), bit of salt.
it SUCKED!

If you want to get clean, eat accordingly. Don't starve yourselveeeees.

PS: no I didn't do it because I wanted, got REALLY intoxicated with a rotten hotdog or something, lol. I still eat hotdogs
PS2: I liked rice before that, but when I ate rice after 5 days of zero food, man! it was PHAT!. Nowadays I don't like rice, I LOVE IT.

No way would I ever choose not to eat for 5 days, no matter how healthy it is. I'll stick with a strict diet, I need some sort of food!

k, and "Food" doesnt give you energy. Try eating a barrel of twinkies and tell me how much you feel like running.

The right foods can provide you with additional energy, but it is a replenishment/surplus thing. I did jogs and light weights on the fast and felt fucking fine. I also moved my friend out of his 2nd story aptmt to a 3rd story in a new building. You dont faint or anything. Jesus. Read on this shit before you make wild illogical guesses.

For water, yeah I usually went through about a gallon + a day. You dont need more than 8 cups but it helps with initial hunger pangs.

For eating again afterwards, I would have a solid meal, nothing huge, but a good pasta dinner with a glass of wine and some salad would be nice. Part of the reason you fast is to break the sugar and complex carb cravings. Youll realize you dont need fatty shitty foods to feel good, and after a fast, they are the last thing on your mind. its a good way to reset the natural balance to your diet.

Im glad to hear youre not eatin whiskers

Perfectly fine, I've done this before so I knew coming into it what to expect.

And I'm just doing the cranberry juice for a more detoxifying effect, and plus it adds SOME flavor to my day

i thought of doing a "salad week" but that would be harder than not eating - you come into the dining hall and there's all the pasta + pizza + fried scallops or some other tasty stuff... and it all smells so good, how can i not eat it?

so simply not going to the dining hall is easier, plus it correlates with my laziness

Posted by Orbax on Oct-29-2003 17:32:

see headaches and nausea are usually due to this: Now that your body had time to cleanse all your shit out it grabs it all and packages it up ready to ship out of your body. If you eat and break the fast the toxin packs will just dissipate back into your body, and while the headache is gone now, the toxins are not. Wait a day or two, youll feel better.

edit
think of it this way. Do you eat when you are terribly sick? No, your body automatically goes into a fast to cleanse itself. water only baby hehe

all right, we'll see what happens. so i shouldn't be eating anything at all, not even apples?

Posted by Orbax on Oct-29-2003 17:36:

water only! hehe. Apples still make your digestive system work.

hehehe I could live on salads

My best weight loss was on holiday, i lost 9lbs in 2 weeks because i dont like the bread abroad so much so we bought an english loaf which i'd have like once a day for toast & it helped me a lot

I think i may want to try this natural detox thing.. but only after this weekend coz im going to be imbibing a hell of lot of alcohol

But so the question is, u just drink water? no fruits or vegetables at all? no saltine crackers or stuff like that?

I heard that most of the time you feel hunger pains, its actually thirst pains, and that you should drink water every time you feel it.
Is this true?

Is there any website that can explain the natural detox process a little clearer, I'm sure it must be a different ordeal for different people, I just want to find out more about it.

Posted by Orbax on Oct-29-2003 17:52:

hunger is a throat and mouth sensation. Youll understand that on day 3. You just want to taste food basically. Your stomach could care less. And your body doesnt need it. Its all psychological hehe. and yes...just water. You can drink your piss too I guess, but I dont think you should

That's my problem, because this weekend is going to be an out of control party so I'm questioning whether or not it's even worth it to start now and then destroy it all immediately or wait until next week.

Oarbacks you probably know better than I would.

as long as you stop eating right now and dont eat until the party.

FYI: You get SO FUCKED UP when youve been fasting for 3 days and then you drink. Cheapest way to get drunk on earth. Its fucking awesome.

The uber benefits of a fast happen at day 3. so youd get some. But there are definite benefits of just 1-2 day fasts. If nothing else, i would fast until saturday morning then have some fruits and veggies. have half a sammich for lunch, and then a decent dinner and go party.

then next week do a longer fast.

first two days your body burns muscles ...then switches over to fat in a fun little process called ketosis

Ketones are sometimes referred to as the products of partially burned (or metabolized) fat. If you are not taking in enough carbohydrates or fats to supply your caloric needs, your system first draws upon your stored body fat to supply your energy needs.
But your body does not succeed in completely consuming all the fat it attempts to metabolize in your cells. The waste products of this process - the partially burned fat, or "ashes"- are called ketones. If you are producing them, it is a sign that your body is burning off fat at an accelerated rate; you are enjoying Fast Fat Metabolism.

And that is what we want- the utilization of fat stores for calories and energy. Pulling excess fat out of the fat storage areas is an integral part of an effective reducing process; your body becomes a fat-burning machine.

Well, not drinking on Friday night is impossible considering I'll have like 10 friends in town and it IS Halloween night. If you've never seen Halloween in Madison then I can't really explain to you how out of hand it gets.

So Monday night --> Friday afternoon is what I'll be working with. I think I'll start again next Monday.

Erhm, btw, is it healthy to do this on a regular basis, like once a month or so? Or should it only be done in less regular intervals?

Posted by Orbax on Oct-29-2003 18:27:

Id probably say a major fast of 5+ days once every 3 months is solid, but a one day fast every week wouldnt cause any problems.and us heavy drinkers should probably not end a fast with uber nights...

plus I fucking forgot that friday is halloween man. FUCK...OH HHOHOHHOHOHOHO NO WORK FRIDAY NO WORK SATURDAY TILL 4;30

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHAAHAHAHAHA

sounds promising, got about 5.5 hours to go (theoretically) till i start burning fat... hehe, what do these ketones look like and how exactly does my body get rid of toxins? except for being a little drowsy + sleepy, i feel great, MUCH LESS depressed and actually i feel stronger.

and yes, drinking on an empty stomach fucks you up REALLY BADLY (in terms of drunkness )
