Pvd's tracks may be simplistic, and cheesey some might say, but thats his own brand of music. And most importantly, as simple as they may be, they manage to "reach" out to people. People can relate to what his tunes mean.

I'm not saying Tiesto's productions suck, heck they are freakin' good, but thats dutch trance, and basically even pvd said that the music they play are totally worlds apart. From 2 different sides of the trance spectrum.

But pvd used to play Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave, in which Tiesto was a part of.

Alright, lemme make my reasoning a little more clear. I listen to a wide range of electronica (trance, techno, prog, ambient, drum & bass) and I have been able to understand why alot of the big names are as big as they are. Some of them I instantly understood why they are good and others took awhile, Sasha & some prog artists (plus prog as a genre in whole) are good examples.

As for PvD, I've listened to plenty of his sets and productions. I just can not understand what all the "PvD whores" see in him. Maybe my ear is just too advanced to enjoy his simplistic music, I don't know...but I just can't get into of his songs.

It's "Energy 2000". Get the one that;s 95.7 MB...there's like 3 version out there. 1 missing 3 tracks in the beginning, 1 missing the last couple of tracks, and 1 with everything

Real set starts with Kay Cee - Millenium Stringz, and ends with Rank 1 - Airwave

iplaywitlights.. since u mentioned it.. just want to verify..Trance Energy is the clubnight in holland.. while Energy is a club in Belgium ? like the same Energy as PvD live@ Energy 2003 am i right?

There is more quality behind Tiesto songs, nuff said.

Paul van Dyk - Autumn is all that needs to be heard...

As for Tiesto, he got me into trance with Trance Energy 2000 and Innercity 2000, both awesome sets, mixing was also spot on, same with the ISOS compilations, Summerbreeze etc, but since 2001 when he started going downhill IMO in terms of mixing and tracklist creation within a set he lost the same feeling I got from him when I first heard those two previous sets. PvD on the other hand has been CONSISTENTLY spot on in mixing and in producing, yes even with those re-edits, they can be somewhat tiring occasionally but it's his style, I want to see those of you who are tired of a certain style that a certain dj has to go up to that dj and tell them to change it. It can't be done, it's what they're known for. Sasha has his distinct style, James Holden has his, Ferry has his, Armin has his. Even PvD has his and all of these artists have been known to change it up a little in terms of what they choose to spin at certain clubs but none is as good as Paul in terms of how they accomplish that. (At least out of the "big names", I'd say Sasha is one who is just as good).

you said it!

pvd and tiesto are two different DJs with two different styles. that's all there is to it. if you don't like one of them, DON'T FUCKING LISTEN. but quit trying to prove that pvd is better than tiesto or vice versa.

yeah, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. having said that, here is mine:
1) you WISH your ear was too advanced.
2) the more you try to prove yourself and your "knowledge", the less of a clue you really seem to have.

enjoy your opinion.

but know its moronic

and this arguement been here since this board been created

i think this THREAD IS CHEESY!!

Posted by Rostros on Oct-29-2003 09:20:

Im sick of these stupid Vs Threads ,there both quality, They both Rule , end of.

Posted by dark_tenshi on Oct-29-2003 09:33:

They play on total different spectrums of the trance sound. Tiesto plays more on the emotional and harmonic side whereas PVD plays on the more techy, spacey, and driving side.

Posted by vmc on Oct-29-2003 09:40:

i smell a 684634341485 pages thread...

They are both quality, each of them has different style. So what's the problem?

Posted by 24K on Oct-29-2003 09:51:

Tiesto played the shit out of PvD's rmx of 10in1. Also I believe he's played PvD's rmx of Synaethesia as well as Flaming June.

People who talk shit about PvD need a good smack upside the head. He might not be the best producer ever but he's a lot better than you could EVER be. So until you actually produce some of your own material pls stf up and have a little respect

Posted by dj a-ron on Oct-29-2003 10:06:

well basically they r both good dj's and have put out good records.lets just leave it at that.

Posted by eRRaTiK on Oct-29-2003 13:05:

this argument is void. dj sammy wins.

Posted by Toufas on Oct-29-2003 13:55:

lol for whoever said something about urban train listen to : Kid Vicious - Reform
u will be surprised....
as for pvd productions being simple....that makes him bettr...imagine him like a painter just drawing a 2 colour shape that makes you stare it and think.....
as for autumn........

Posted by Lucid on Oct-29-2003 14:06:

PVD songs don't generally fit the feel of Tiesto's sets. PVD tunes are usually epic trance and thats generally the type of trance he spins mostly. Tiesto plays alot more progressive trance then PVD does. Tiesto on the other hand produces both progressive and epic trance so his tracks can fit PVD's sets better.

Yea, seriouslly...how else could they make the amazing duo Gouryella.

Where/what did you hear about them hating each other Mebot?

As for the original topic of this thread, both are good at their own sh!t...who cares.

Sorry i must've phrased it wrong, its not that they hate each other per se.. i think it was more of a mutual breakup surrounding Gouryella. Tiesto did not want to be part of it anymore so he left. Since then, word is that Tiesto has never played a Gouryella tune.

But i'm not keen on every single Tiesto set so I'm sure he has played Gouryella tunes since then. In fact I heard that he allegedly played Ligaya last year in South America..

So but yeah, clearing that up, they're still friends, but refuse to work on any project with each other anymore.
