actually..
centrum doesnt digest very well, and if you ask a honey bucket dude hell say theres a layer of orange on the bottom of the things.
also, your body just doesnt produce certain things. Vitamin C for, and unless you are a food nazi you wont know what youre getting. B12 supplements are good, plus all the herbal stuff that helps the heart, blood, and white cell productions and health.
There are many thing your body doesnt make, or doesnt get enough of (an area with low sunlight for example would have several vitamin deficiencies).
I would say E, C, b-12, echinacea are the most common with stuff like st johns wort.
a plethora of stuff out there each one doing its own thing. See what they do and see if you need them in your life (yes, now which ones)
i like zinc and chromium picolinate myself for energy in the morning
gotta love em metallics for meh carbon based body-oid.
Like someone said before, its not necessary to eat vitamins. As long as you eat a wide variety you are fine.
I still eat my chewable multi's...mmmmm
I've become somewhat of a zealot but...
3-4 moderately sized meals a day
A Centrum
Flax Seed Oil
Soy Milk
A Protein Bar (almost everyday)
Vitamins E and C (Organic - NOT synthetic)
Probably the worst things that I put into myself are coffee and an infrequent Red Bull & Vodka
Beer and wine is good! (in moderation)

Vitamin C's good if you've got a cold. I have. It sux. Anywho, I've always taken a vitamin tablet every day, but only coz my mummy tells me I dont eat enough fruit and veg.

I take a calcium + magnesium pill and an msm everyday.
I'm allergic to milk products, so I need as much calcium as I can get (I also drink alot of soy.. up to one L a day).
The msm is supposed to help alleries. I've got a really bad cat allergy (and yeah, i've got a cat that never leaves me alone) plus all these other things like ragweed and pollen.
When a cold is coming on, I take a zinc and an echinachea. seems to do the trick.
