With the proper marketing anyone can be a superstar DJ (i.e. Oakenfold)... I would love to see Tiesto try to keep a crowd entertained from Saturday night till Monday morning... JP had his crowd and to them he is every bit as good a DJ as anyone... I'm sure he'll have a home somewhere in NYC and the same vibe from SF will be carried over... |
JP owns NYC...
Tiesto - nice trance
PVD - journeys
JP - awesome when u fawked up... tons of bass and hardcore underground beats... House owns NYC... and NYC=house (DT and JP)

| Originally posted by politicsofdancin i haven't really been following the stories and dramas about SF lately....my SF days and memories are hung in the back of my closet...lol IMO, SF has not been the same, and yes i don't blame JP for leaving. you can only do the same thing every weekend for so long....he's been resident for what a decade now, even more? also, i just want to state my opinion while i can. Jonathan Peters is a great nyc dj, but comparing to the likes of a tiesto or pvd is unimaginable. |

JP is weak...i won't waste my energy explaining why..and yes i think you can compare Dj's of different genres to each other, in essence they are entertainers and i happen to think the music JP plays is shite...I agree though that he is not comparable to PVD ARMIN FERRY ETC...these guys actually produce quality music as well as DJ...
Mizz
JP produces also, he caters to different croud and ye, sometimes he sucks.. PVD would suck playing 50 hour sets also..
I have an immense amount of respect for Jonathan
the man plays at least 12- 13 hours each night minimum! Think about sitting in one spot for at least 13 hours, let alone spinning. hes mixing, programming and controlling an audience for that time period just about every saturday for YEARS. think about it. i think he missed 2 or 3 nights, post 9/11 and another time (i forget).
even 6 hours is difficult to successfully pull off consecutively.
his sound might not be what i like but you cant deny he is the most loyal & hardest working dj in the north east. maybe even the us.
ah well...everyone is entitled to their opinion, the K heads of NY def have a leader.
Mizzz
Hm.. then PVD is a china-town/gweedos/16 yo kids/fags leader (go see croud he pulls in @ Exit and Roxy)

Anyone know if JP is spinning classics night this weekend at SF. I'm pretty sure he's not, but I hear some people saying he is?
Well, whether JP quit/was fired/mutual decision there was something I noticed. SF is already promoting Junior's first night saying it will be a "drug free....music something....bla bla bla". Maybe Grant got tired of the very exclusive scene at SF and all of its stereotypes(ie, drugs, drugs, guidos, and drugs) and decided to attract a new audience to SF and make it more diverse? Or do club owners not do that, because money is the first priority?
check his forums. I hope he is.. I am there if he is..
