i understood right away. that kinda shit happens to me all the time too.atb
the point is that atb sounds old and dated, cool u may like too listen too him too chill out to but its not for me, as for atb being on the albums they were quite popy anyway and not aimed at the people in the clubs but for kids too get hooked on, a bit like ministry of sounds albums sounding nothing like the club and being for the kids but not that bad
Whatever. Personally, I consider ATB's music very unique. In fact, ATB Live @ Trance Energy 02/17/01 is my favorite liveset, caz it's so addictive. And Let U Go is on my Top Ten list.
ATB: cheesy club trance?
I must confess that I started listening to trance with ATB and Ferry Corsten. I personally believe that ATB's production work is better than his DJ-ing. True, his singles are meant for the commercial dance music crowd. Also his track selection for the MoS Acosta/ATB mix is probably exactly the same as that of our local club DJ (read: cheesy club trance). However, in my opinion he has a good sense of melody and hi-nrg rhythms- as evidenced by his remix work on:
Miss Jane- Its a fine day (ATB mix)
Blank and Jones - Cream (ATB mix)
2 mixes that I absolutely adore.

I mean it's not his fault that it was the victim of complete overkill from unimaginative Dj's world-wide, and before it blew up and became boring from complete overplay, yeah it wasn't a bad track. |
leave Andre alone...dont blame him for the track going cheesy, if the radio stations or djs played it 2 much...well shit happens
You should listen to the tracks, without the thought of it being commercial or played too much. Worry and listen to the riffs... and not how many times it gets played. If andre wants to use that guitar riff...live with it!!! and also Let U Go is a lovely track..."I've been to familiar places...I've been running like sentence..."
On one final note I love the matt darey remix of 9pm till I come and the tune of till i come still makes me cry, no matter how cheesy or commercial it is........
"..change it and see Till I come..."
the till i come 9pm-signum remix is very good imo.
Some of u are dissing ATB but they have completely forgot that they were introduced to Trance thanks to him . Maybe his music is commercialised or cheesy , but he's a great "tremplin" to trance music ...
ATB is pure Cheeze...the only thing that makes an ATB worth listening to is it's been remixed. ATB's sounds are way to commerical. Although i have to say that I have quite a few songs that he has made. I use them to introduce trance to trance-newbies, some how it's easier to get ppl into Trance if you first introduce the simple/commerical sounds of producers like ATB/Alice Deejay and then move them on to some real producers like PVD,AVB,Sasha etc...
personally, I think his songs are cheesy, but I do like his trance compilations. I actually am not really picky when it comes to trance, I still like listening to it, its just not my favorite, I seem to enjoy some of the other much hated musicians too, I don't really mind if they make it on the radio and don't really think they are commercial, just lucky. I think the mainstram music stations overplay dance songs and ruin them for many people, you just have to take all the artists in small doses or you get sick of it, thats why some artist get a lot of hate IMO. On the other hand there are musicians that are complete sellouts, like Moby. One day he teamed up with gwen on a song and suddenly he was the man, I almost started to like his music until he abandoned it all for pop, those kind of artists deserve all the shite you can throw at them.
his first CD was good, it was one of my first trance CD's.
Now, his new cd is HORRIBLE, bunch of bad sounding music, i wouldnt call trance!.....as for PVD, dunno why he dislikes him, i'm sure someone knows and posted it so i'll read back....
>JM<
Its a fine day
well, you like what you like. Enjoy whatever you listen to and be happy.

I think atb's tracks are played too much, I liked some tracks of him in the beginning, but it turned too hate
Well to be honest...I used to like his productions, not all but most, especially his old producitons...but:
but now if I see a tune both REMIXED by FERRY and ATB....I'd go for the FERRY one...
The difference in choice explains everything.....
You see....

"Sequential one - I wanna make you" is mint, though it's a super-cheesy tune
"Atb - 9 PM" is mint too.
Remixes of "William Orbit - Adagio for Strings" and "Moby - Why does my heart feel so bad" are nice too, but that's all.
The rest is so... raw
I don't much like his sound. I liked maybe one or two of his first tracks, but the rest was absolute crap IMO. Oh well, to each their own right?
My opinion.......
A lot of people have point out a lot of things I wanna say but again:
ATB is a good producer and DJ.........He is the one that got me into Trance (or dance music....as some of you refer to).
9pm til I come and Don't stop are very original at that moment........It might consider be chesse or commerical nowdays but remember those tracks were produce in 1998
I don't listen to his shit anymore because most of them sound the same and lack originality
Anyone heard 9pm Til I Come (Matt Darey Remix)?.......now that shit is mint
I got into Trance because of ATB. Honestly, Don't Stop was my favorite "Trance" song
Although ATB is more of euro-dance than trance, his catchy, uplifting, and happy sound opens the door to electronic music for a lot of people.
