i've never noticed a difference. the information is recorded in the groove, the glass only touches the peaks so it wouldn't touch the actual groove. you don't want to melt the vinyl, just warm it up enough so it flattens out. it's a controlled warping for lack of a better term. like i said, i've used this method with a 90% success rate. i wouldn't try this on any record you're not willing to lose though. sometimes you have a record that's just so warped that you can't really play it. those are the only records i use this method for. if it's just slightly warped i'm just really careful with my "in mix" corrections. i'll only use the pitch to correct, which is what i do most of the time anyway.

hold your horses mate. i'm still trying to put an hours mix together let alone playing to an audience. if i did tho i would deffo take one of these mats. the record sticks to it like glue.
