This may sound like a dumb question but what's gives Coke its flavor? For example Sprite is lemon/lime and Ginger ale is ginger. Coke/Pepsi ingredients are carbonated water, sugar, coloring, and caffeine. The debate between the two seems silly,its like debating whether Poland or Evian water tastes better.

You know how when you spill coke on a table and leave it there for a day or so, it leaves a sticky substance like syrup?

For years the Coke/Pepsi thing has been the calling card of the big linguistic clash in Quebec. Coke machines in the English schools, Pepsi machines in the French ones; it's like a territorial thing.

i think it has to do with the water supply more than the reciepe itself.
